Bankinter invierte en Coinffeine, una innovadora empresa española de tecnología BitcoinLa tecnología de esta start-up permite el intercambio de criptomonedas y otros activos financieros entre personas, de forma segura y sin intermediarios. Es la novena inversión que se lleva a cabo dentro del Programa Emprendedores de la Fundación Innovación Bankinter.Bankinter, a través de su firma de Capital Riesgo, ha invertido en el capital de Coinffeine, una start up española que desarrolla tecnología Bitcoin. Con esta inversión, que se enmarca dentro del Programa Emprendedores de la Fundación Innovación Bankinter, la entidad se convierte en uno de los primeros bancos a nivel mundial en invertir en el negocio de las nuevas monedas digitales.
Fundada este año por cuatro ingenieros informáticos españoles con experiencia internacional, Coinffeine está desarrollando una pionera plataforma de software que permite el intercambio de divisas y bitcoins entre personas, de manera descentralizada, segura y anónima, y sin que los usuarios tengan que ceder la gestión de su dinero a un tercero de confianza. El software de esta compañía consigue eliminar al intermediario en el intercambio de bitcoins gracias a un modelo matemático basado en la teoría de juegos que elimina el incentivo que pueda tener una de las partes para defraudar a la otra.
Lo relevante de Coinffeine es que su tecnología, más allá de permitir la compraventa de bitcoins, puede posibilitar en un futuro cercano el intercambio seguro entre particulares de todo tipo de activos o productos financieros digitales: acciones, futuros, derivados, etc.
Coinfeinne fue noticia el pasado mes de mayo por ser la primera empresa del mundo en constituirse con bitcoins y actualmente ha sido seleccionada por el ICEX, bajo el programa STCimmersion.com, como una de las doce start ups españolas con mayor proyección para ser presentadas en Sillicon Valley (San Francisco, Estados Unidos).
Se trata de la novena compañía en la que invierten Bankinter Capital Riesgo y la Fundación de la Innovación desde el lanzamiento del Programa Emprendedores en mayo de 2013. Este programa busca impulsar el emprendimiento en España apoyando con financiación a start-up nacionales con alto potencial de crecimiento. Su ámbito de actuación se centra en inversiones semilla o early stage, que requieran inversiones entre los 25.000 euros y los 200.000 euros y se caractericen por su carácter innovador, contar con planes de crecimiento internacional, disponer de al menos un prototipo definido y haber constituido ya el equipo.

Founded this year by four Spanish computer engineers with international experience, Coinffeine is developing an pioneering software platform that allows the currency and bitcoin exchange between people, in a decentralized, secure and anonymous way and without need for the users to lose the control of their money to a third party. This company's software manages to remove the intermediary in the bitcoin exchange using a mathematical model based on game theory, removing the incentive for one of the participants could have to defraud the other.
Another Coinffeine relevant side is that its technology, not just allowing the trade of bitcoins, could allow in a close future the secure exchange of any kind of security or financial products between their users: stocks, futures, derivatives, etc.
Coinffeine was in the news on this past May for being the first company in the world constituted with bitcoins and recently has been selected by ICEX, under the SCTimmersion.com as one of the twelve Spanish startups with bigger projection to be presented in Silicon Valley (San Francisco, USA)
Is the ninth company invested by the Bankinter Innovation Foundation's Entrepreneur Program since the launch of this program in May 2013. This program tries to help the entrepreneurship in Spain, Spanish financing by helping start-ups with high growth potential. It specifically helps companies in seed or early stage that require investments between 25,000 and 200,000 euros and are characterized by a high innovative level, international and have a defined prototype and an already formed team.
