Sorry for asking noob questions: but can't understand why these accounts have a monetary value, may someone please explain?

Well he is simply a high level with trophies and all buildings and troupes are max level and that's need a lot of time & work on the game

But to my eyes this explains the value the seller assigns to his/her account: but I still don't get why a buyer would spend $2000 or more for a basically free game

It would take someone probably $2500-$3000 plus years to get where I am

Yes it's not allowed. They closed my friends paypal account in addition to his ebay once for selling his world of warcraft account. I think he tried to resell it again.

Well I disagree with both of you 100%. You're buying an account for 3 reasons:

1). To save weeks to months of time invested in a game literally
2). The money you think you're saving is going right back into the game via microtransactions
3). You can always re-sell what you purchased at a later point

My first MMO I'll admit I as well thought it was stupid buying an account. I was banned in 2008. This was World of Warcraft. The reason was they said I was exploiting the market selling virtual currency. This never happened. I explained to them I was anti-RMT, they never fixed the issue. I stopped. I soon came to realize it's not worth investing my time if I'm going to have to spend the time and energy leveling it up. Also realized there are so many good games. If I'm going to play them, I need to buy and the resell.

Figured this was a good intro since I have been following this site for months but never followed up.

Just wanted to show what some of these accounts have gone for elsewhere.... Here is the sold accounts at eBay and remember my account is at LEVEL 170 and I can't even find any other accounts at 170.  So, $2000 is SUPER fair and at least I break even.
