So I've been lurking this board for a while now and just decided to register, figured I may as well make my first post a "introduction" post, although I don't see many others.

I'm learning several languages and taking classes in comp sci, cryptocurrency became a fun thing to read about for me, since I love digital economies and often focus on that portion of [video games].

Also messing around on Linux now... Very cool stuff. But I still have some relatively unanswered questions despite everything I have read:

1) If ASICs destroy mining profitability for hobbyists, how can they innovate aside from x11...13... and so on? For instance;
-CPU mining is dead, GPU pays for heating... What about CPUs in server equipment, could there be an algorithm that is effectively computed by this hardware? If not, what is left?
-Private kernels seem like the next best answer for this problem. How hard is it to develop a kernel that merely works on a single type of coin 25-50% faster? Are hashing kernels just a microkernal that is implemented in the OS? Still new to all this, my word choice might be a bit off. Thanks

this just appear to best the bad time ever, that's why everything it's not profitable and only big farm gain something, actually i think that even big farm are struggling, because even if you don't pay for electricity you need someone to do maintanance for all those machine
