Quote
Bitcoin payments provider Paymium has partnered with one of the world's largest point-of-sale (POS) solution providers to allow European brick-and-mortar retailers to accept the digital currency.

Specifically, Paymium has created an app that is being hosted on the Telium Tetra Marketplace, a payment application suite developed by Ingenico Group solely for its POS terminals. The app allows merchants to accept bitcoin payments and convert them to euros instantly.

...
Ingenico Group has a commercial presence in more than 125 countries through 80 offices and an extensive network of partners. It boasts 22 million POS terminals installed worldwide and an annual revenue of €1.3bn in 2013.

So this news came out a few weeks ago but I have not heard much about it since then. From the article it appears that Ingenico terminals use some software and they allow "apps" on their terminals.

Would this mean that a merchant in Europe using an Ingenico terminal can just install this Paymium app to accept bitcoins? Or does it install automatically? I will keep an eye out for any of these terminals to see if it has options on there for payment.

Is there a site that will show us which merchants are using this app?

Good news indeed. We seriously need this to get going and the main keyword which got my attention was "European brick-and-mortar retailers" and it is somewhere bitcoin is seriously lacking.

Would be interesting to see that implemented. More adopters coming our way if that happens. Plus, it would sure as hell makes things easy for poorer countries to adopt bitcoin especially 3rd worlds.
