If you are in Manhattan then you have options. Like this group that keeps track of meetups:

Or you may want to head over to Union square (a.k.a. Satoshi square) at the statue. Not sure about winter, but when I was there this fall people were meeting there on Wednesdays to trade. You may also want to check here:
