Got a few mining GPU mining rigs with dual R 280/290x cards. I haven't mined anything since LTC and was wondering if there is a coin I can mine profitably, what algo etc?

You can try and point your miners to NiceHash/WestHash with multi-algo mining, you could get some profits if you have cheap electricity. See https://www.nicehash.com

Not sure I get it, let's assume I have 10x R9 280x cards, any idea of what I would expect per day as of today?

Mine x13@nicehash.com

X13   3337   6.2215 GH/s   0.2812 BTC/GH/Day  488%   0.2646 BTC/GH/Day   0.2101 BTC/GH/Day   0.3081 BTC/GH/Day

with 10 cards you will get around 50MHASH@x13 using the public wol0miner

This gives you

0,01406BTC per day (3.3$)

There is a x13bin on the net. It might be an old version though. It is doing 5MHASH on standard clocks. The size of the file is around 1.8 Mbyte

btw;
I got your x11 bin to run at 7MHASH on standard clocks on a 280x. sgminer.4.2 MSI gaming z97 main board.

this is my card:

Yup, nothing to see here, move along. Only reason people have GPUs now is for gaming. Yup.  Roll Eyes

I was lucky to have purchased a used HD7950 for around $300, mine X11 with it while it was much profitable for 6 months, and then sell it to someone else for around $230.

I made decent profit and was lucky to have found a buyer. Probably because it was still under warranty.

I have been mining with GPUs until a few days ago.
Had the same questions. Unfortunately I started to sell them off. Even though I have free electricity. Switching over to SHA256 Asics. In my opinion it's better at the moment and you will have soon to expect that the r9s will fall deeper in value because of AMDs successor models coming in Q2.
See it more as a hobby I would say. But if you even have to pay for electricity, you will likely not get anything much there anymore.
Btw. I had 6x r9 280x and 3x r9 290. The most fun was starting with coin launches and so on, but these have gone as many scamcoins launched.

Nicehash is at the moment the most uncomplicated method, if you just want to point and let them run. The daily stats can vary greatly, but with multialgomining and swtting X11, x13 and x15 (which dont use as much energy as the other algos) you can still get the most out of them.

He wont earn $3/per day more like $1.50. I don't know how you are gettin 5MHASH/S per 280X on X13 algo. Last time I checked its more like 2MHASH/S.

Unless you bought the private kernels from someone.

You're not up to date, mate. Cheesy

My stats with R9 280x were:
x11 about 6,5 mh/s
x13 about 4,8-5 mh/s
X15 about 3,6-3,8 mh/s
