Hello! Recently I received my BFL Single (Rev 1.) That I ordered late April (I think... may have been mid...). I plugged it in and everything was going just great--hashing at ~800MH/s, and pretty quiet. I left it running on my desk for a while. A few weeks later I went on vacation and left the device there hashing away for two days. I returned from vacation to find it making a strange noise. Upon further inspection, while the device was on, it appeared something in the fan was not even (at the very center, some type of clear washer perhaps?). Upon even closer inspection it also looked lopsided while off, but it wasn't as obvious. I sent BFL a message (probably on the 15th of July) including an audio recording and description. Here is a link to the audio recording I sent to them: http://www.mediafire.com/?o111d22jma6rb2p. Has anyone else had this problem, or know how I would go about fixing it? Thank you!

Oh, it's the format my iPhone records in by default. Want me to make a .mp3, or are you able to open it?

Oh thank you Mine makes the same noise on occasion, but I just bump it a few times to align the fans.

Just curious, would this void my warranty or no?

Just curious, would this void my warranty or no? It doesn't seem to be an issue with them; I did something similar to mine and was assured that as long as the thing still worked correctly, the fan mods would not change the trade-in value, and presumably by extension the warranty.

So as long as you can plug the thing in and get the expected hash rate, they are fine with it?

So as long as you can plug the thing in and get the expected hash rate, they are fine with it? Seems so, but don't use too big a fan otherwise you might cause the board voltage to sag or burn out a fan regulator.

There really are some span regarding 120 mm fans, better change.

There was another topic somewhere here about fans, discussing which ones provide the best airflow while remaining silent.

I found that thread P.S. not the one I was looking for,but good info anyway https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=78754.0I would replace the defective fan with one as close in cfm (maybe a little higher cfm,an extra 5-10 cfm should be ok) & the exact size (92mm),to keep power draw low & for ease of replacement without modding. My fans are wired together from BFL (top & bottom fans & tiny bottom heatsink with a fan),so some cutting & splicing may be required. P.S.just google the model # from the BFL fan & you should get info on its cfm & power draw Cool idea, but draws too much power from the header: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=81905.0

I have one that I need to set on its side, otherwise the fan is bumping something and making a similar but different noise.
I guess I wasn't too worried about it...
