Bitcoin Payments Still Power 5% of Porn.com Sales

Bitcoin currently accounts for roughly 5% of all sales at Porn.com, the adult entertainment company that began accepting bitcoin as payment in January 2014.

The findings come roughly one year after Porn.com began accepting bitcoin and as part of an interview with CoinDesk centered on the anniversary.

And will continue to gain more ground. In this business the more anonymous you can be the better.
Good for Bitcoin since sex is one of these things in life that are always in demand Smiley

They do not call it the oldest profession for nothing or is that prostitution.  Huh

I think not many people accept the fact that BTC is used as a currency and we should be able to buy anything with it.

I would be worried if we could not have bought porn with BTC -- As for the anonymity... well it's open for debate.  Undecided

That is a nice percentage. I'm actually surprised by it, though I can see the benefits of using bitcoin as nobody wants their card details associated with their account. I think the rest of the porn and sex industry are really missing out on not using bitcoin.

That's prostituition. Don't think they had video cameras 2000 years ago.

I'm surprised that in this day and age that people still actually pay for it. With all the free stuff out there I suppose the regulars ultimately feel like they need to keep purchasing newer and different experiences. But like someone said, this stuff will always be in demand so the users should get with the program and pay for it the right way in this day and age.

You could make that argument about tv/films and music though. You can easily just get them for free as well, but I agree it does seem silly paying for porn, but maybe you have to pay for some specific niche stuff (though not sure porn.com caters to that).

I think the porn/sex industry is actually missing out by not accepting bitcoin. Camsites are another way bitcoin can be utilized. Paypal refuses to work with them and this is where bitcoin can step in and with the minimal fees both the consumer and company benefit not to mention you don't have to give your personal details.

I am acctually glad that the % is not higher than that.

The only reason why I am saying that, is because it would just give the trolls a new hook to attack BTC - If it was for example 65% ....you would have them screaming... "Bitcoin is only used for porn and drugs"

It has already been linked to child pornography, which would be only a small %.... but still enough for shills and trolls to shout it out from every rooftop.  Angry

That's a silly reason to not want industries to adopt bitcoin. Are you saying you don't want bitcoin to be adopted by homosexuals just because idiotic trolls might complain it's only used by geeks and fags? No. Fuck trolls. Don't pay attention to them.

Agree on that it's surprising that someone is actually paying anything to watch something like this (considering the size of the free "market").

I'm actually surprised by that number and I think this will grow quite steadily over time.

Maybe they can't find the specific porn they want? Not everyone is a whizz with illegal downloads as well and some just prefer the convince.
