"Mars One" will be the biggest lie of all, they are just gonna make money off the reality show about the project..
This is what I was thinking. They'll just make a reality show out of the section process and that's about as far as it will go. According to wikipedia: Organizers plan for that crew, selected from thousands of applicants who paid an administrative fee, to become the first residents of Mars with every step of the crew’s journey will be documented for a reality television program which would partially fund the project I wonder how much that fee was? Could be one giant scam.

I've never believed in this Mars One Mission. It just doesn't make any sense nor do I see where they would get the money from or how they would profit from it. I think it's just some elaborate hoax. The fact that these people have so blatantly advertised it as a 'one way trip' just shows you how much contempt they have for people, I would never work with anyone with such a disregard for their own peoples' safety, It could possibly make sense if you were going to try sending these guys to a planet with atmosphere but they're basically asking them to die and they don't even have a real plan to get this colony of theirs set up. Well it's not feasible to bring them back. BEsides, they will probably go crazy up there and kill each other or themselves anyway. Isn't this what the bloodthirsty TV audience is craving and willing to shell out for? Remember The Running Man?

Bullshit, that's what they want people to believe, it's like those scams that try and get you to pay up money in order to get an internet 'job' which turns out to be a virus or some shit lol

Well that's the excuse they will give for why they're charging, but it'd be interesting to see how much the fee actually is. I wonder what they've done with the 300k+ they got from their crowdfunding? Is there any legal requirements to what these crowd funders can spend their money on or can they do what they want with it? I'm surprised their isn't more scams perpetrated under the guise of crowdfunding grandiose ideas to be honest.

http://www.buzzfeed.com/danvergano/mars-aint-never-gonna-happenCurious what this community thinks on this topic? I am of the opinion that we have progressed beyond "get a man there first" like in the 1960s for the moon missions; our robots can do most of the exploring and field work at a fraction of the cost it would take to get humans there, and they do it much safer. As the tech improves our robots will only get better at it. I can't see any real benefit, especially when cost is factored in, to sending humans other than a cool factor or to say, "I did it first!". I can get behind asteroid mining much sooner than I can a manned Mars mission. I think people need to prepare with optimally and it need to take very tight procedure to visit Mars since it comprise danger. So the astronauts must do this explorer step by step ,that's why the misson seems slow process

I dont know for sure but heard it was like $30 or something, probably works out to a ton of money.

Look, a couple of people sent to mars, with a couple of crates of barbecue sauce, and then all those people going "one way..." Hey, life on Mars is good! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIufLRpJYnI

Probably. After all, they don't really want us to know what's going on up there anyway.
