Gridseed / Pi question

I have a "rig" that is currently made up of 3 Gridseed Blades connected to a Pi B+ running a Hashzoom image. I am currently running these three Blades through two non-powered 4 port hubs. My questions / issues are:
 
a) I purchased a powered 13 port hub but could not get it to work with either the B+ or the B (another Pi I have). The non-powered hubs work fine. The powered hub works fine when connected to my PC but not to either Pi. I also tried this hub with a Minera build (on both the B and the B+ but it no work). Can anyone recommend a good, cheap 10 (or so) port USB hub that they know works with the Pi B / Pi B+?
 
b) As noted above, I am currently running a Zoomhash image on both Pi systems. I was running Minera and it was working well for about a week and then issues. I had to change the settings to have the system cycle every 24 hours to keep it running, then down to every 6 and finally, I just gave up and moved to the Zoomhash. So far (about a week), no issues with Zoomhash. Can anyone recommend a good image that they use that has good stability and can support Blades? I would prefer a web interface so that I can check up on them more easily. The ZoomHash runs but I do miss the configuation options / controls available with Minera.
 
c) I am currently running these Blades (have three more coming within a week) off of individual 10a PSUs. I would like to replace many of them with a single ATX PSU. I have seen discussions on setting this up but no clear instructional posts. I am considering getting something like a Shark 750watt or some other comparable system that is QUIET. I have located many adapter cables on eBay for connecting the PCIE and Molex connecters to the Blade compatible power plug so I don't think I will have issues there. Again any suggestions or detailed how-to(s), most appreciated.
 
d) I have three Blades now but will soon have 3 more. These are not quiet devices. I have been playing with fan swaps to try and get these as quiet as the 5-chip units but am worried about the heat. I can not locate fans that push the same volume of air that are quiet enough. Does anyone know, if these are run at 838 or less, what the real cooling requirements are? Is anyone else configuring these for "stealth" mode (good and quiet)? I am currently going in the direction of replacing the one end fan with two. One on the end and one mounted on the left side of the exposed boards. These replacement fans are 30CFM but only 12dB so they meet my sound needs. I just don't want to stress the Blades. Again, thoughts anyone? Anyone have experience with this? I would run the second fan off of the "spare" fan plug.

Re Hubs: The problem is that most hubs feed the power back to the RPi (as the USB spec is that way). You can do a Y-cable mod: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=765365.msg8730781#msg8730781

Use the same power source for miner, Rpi & usb hub. You need to do some cut & cut work  
Buy good name atx psu brand like corsair, evga or seasonic

For the Minera issue what miner software did you use? I can recommend CPUminer for the Blades.

As a follow-up. I found powered USB hubs that work fine. They are only 7 ports each but at ~$14 per, hard to beat. I got them from my local TigerDirect. They are called "Ultra 7 port hubs". I also came across some Artic F9 fans that are very quiet and push over 40CMF. Along with some heatsinks, I am hoping I can "upgrade" these Blades to "stealth mode".

I currently have a RPi B+ running ZoomHash and a RPi B running Hashra. These are mostly working out, though the ZoomHash will occasionally go "batsh!t crazy" and get a run of "unknown work" errors that seem to pass quickly but can rack up hundreds to thousands of errors before settling back down.
