I'm a new electrum user.
Tried deselecting "auto" server and reopen with different servers several time but nothing happens.
Also reinstalled the app but that didn't help either.
Any ideas what to do. Searched the forums here but can't find a solution. Thanks!

Can you start Electrum by opening a terminal and pasting this in
Code:
/Applications/Electrum.app/Contents/MacOS/Electrum -v

Please give me the output that it gives you.

Hi Tachikoma,

I have sent you a copy/ paste of output from Terminal via PM.
To make things even worst, I have now upgraded to 2.0.3 and I'm getting an Electrum Error message at startup with the option of either "Terminate" or "Open Console".

Hi Nerioseole,

I managed to get 2.0.3 running but still can't connect.
I did the "start the program, quit, and re-start it again" you suggested- but still no connection.
Also noticed that the network Proxy option within Electrum is greyed out.
Could it be that the network setting on my mac are not configured correctly?
I have full wi fi signal and Firewall is off in the system preferences.

Thanks!

Hey, I also had that problem. I managed to get a connection with the following steps (please excuse bad english or wrong words)

Finder -> electrum 2.0.3. is shown under devices -> click on it ->now you should see the electrum logo -> click logo ->  click on the little gear wheel -> click on "show package contents (translated from german, maybe named different in english. The second from above) -> double click contents -> double click MacOS -> double click Electrum. Then Terminal and Wallet opens and connection light should be green.

I don't understand why the terminal opens, maybe someone could explain that to me  Huh

Hope it works for you as well.

I have the exact same problem, can open it when inside the Electrum.app and MacOS folder, and it connects then, but not when i double click the app file in applications folder,

greyed out proxy option...

anyone from the developers of this app can help ?

it all started with installing electrum 2

then uninstalled after i  noticed it would not connect....instaleld 1.9.8 again, and it worked

now i am on electrum 2.0.3 same problem

using OSX 10.8.5

edit:

just tried out the terminal way:

/Applications/Electrum.app/Contents/MacOS/Electrum -v

Electrum has to be in Applications folder for that, works like a charm, not grayed out anymore

but when i close electrum and restart it by double click again, same problem Sad

terminal reaction:

Managed to connect via Terminal- pasting what the above poster suggested.
Does that mean Terminal will need to run in the background all the time?
Will Electrum run reliably this was?
