I have been around bitcoin since last year when they were at $9.00 ea. and skyrocketing.  I couldn't get MtGox and Dwolla accounts open fast enough!  I sat there for hours watching it go up and no transfer from Dwolla even though I knew it would take a couple of days to get the cash to MtGox.  Finally bought somewhere, I really dont remember, but it was over $15 and my measly $200 was looking like not very many BTC.

Then I got into mining.  Built a small rig and mined for a while.  Long story short I have less than 200 BTC, but it will pay for all of my initial investment.  I still mine here and there, and more lately, but now I really want alot more.  I spend them here and there too. (no SR! Cheesy).  I believe that a few need to actually be used and not just traded to help get them going.

My whole point to all of this is that I finally realized that I can advertise my investment everywhere I go.  I find myself talking or at least mentioning Bitcoin to everyone I meet and know.  If people show a spark of interest I pull out my physical Bitcoin from coinedbits.com (that I carry with me everywhere) and that really gets their attention.  So start telling everyone!

No. They have no real Bitcoin value. They are a novelty or souvenir coin.

The code is for them to show where in the world these fake physical bitcoins go, they have no bearing on a bitcoin address/private key; that answer is right there in the FAQ as well.

Yeah they are just novelty.  Without looking it up, or maybe it was the trust back then, I think these coins came out before casascius coins.  I was a little reluctant at the time to just trust casascius with precious BTC's.  And I was just supporting fellow Bitcoiners.  I plan on having some casascius coins soon.

I have both these coins. Casascius wins by a long shot. Prettier and they actually are a bitcoin wallet with a bitcoin on it Wink

get more than you need if you can. They tend to get bought off you real fast once you show them to people and explain bitcoin Wink

slightly bigger than a 2€ coin, but a lot thinner and lighter. The material is brass, I think. It darkens and acquires some sort of patina over time. The hologram looks awesome.

Wow this is very neat I had no idea that these coins existed. I might have to order a couple even just for the novelty value of having a real world item with an exact bitcoin value.

memorydealers.com has a nice pic:

it seems I'm advertising casascius coins Wink. Well, I never regretted buying mine (only about 20% of them left, the others I gave away, sold most of them to friends)
