If we are to properly educate people on Bitcoin – the monetary aspect, the technology and the ideology envisioned by Satoshi Nakamoto – we need to find a medium a lot of people can access and relate to. Comic books would be a good way to do that, as we have seen in the form of the Bitcoin Comic. And by the looks of it, more and more comic book-related services are starting to accept digital currency payments as well.

Yea, there are some re-newed interest in Comic's lately... The BBC channel did a recent documentary on the History of comic's and some sites related to this started accepting BTC too, eg.  http://dynamite.com/digital/viewProduct.html?CAT=DF-Bobs_Burgers

Kevin Smith{writer-director},  also created a fun series, called "Comic Book Men" and it put Comic's back on the radar. I grew up with Comic's and it's great to see online Comic related sites accepting BTC.

Thank you for the new info OP.  Grin {Back to my Bat cave .. I go!}

It would surprise some, but the comic book niche market is much larger than that of bitcoin.

Good publicity, not very constructive for bitcoin. They are using BitPay (again). I wish stores could have a little more faith in bitcoin and hold them longer.

The fact that they use BitPay doesn't mean they're dumping it straight away Wink

Saying you take Bitpay is not really the same as saying you take bitcoin.

The credit goes to Bitpay for getting a new account not to Titanium Comics for accepting bitcoin, because they don't accept it without the processor.  What they accept is fiat, fiat that they receive after the processor turns the btc into fiat that they accept.

As for this:

I think it does.

The point of bitpay is to get a specific value for your merchandise not higher or lower value.

It is generally good news it is first comic publisher! Actually Titanium Comics is considered third league of comic publishers. Buy I guess we will have to wait a long time before some greatest companies in the market like DC, Marvel or even smaller like Zenescope will eventually accept cryptocurrency based payment.

I think you need to start doing more asking and less inferring...
from https://bitpay.com/pricing:

Can I get part of my settlement in bitcoin?

Many of our merchants choose to take a percentage- or even 100%- of their BitPay settlement in bitcoin. You can choose your settlement preferences from your account dashboard. We settle bitcoin to your bitcoin address daily.

The inference is solid, the point of bitpay is "... instant conversion" clearly a primary selling point which is why it is both "instant" and "free".

The inference for the use of the word "instant" is to let the merchant know that they will get the value of the merchandise, not 'higher or lower' because of market fluctuation.

Of course it takes more than common sense to get it, but only an ounce of critical thinking.

Or maybe some reading comprehension would help?  It may be a safe assumption, but it is NOT implied.

ETA: The term "instant conversion" certainly is a primary selling point of one of their features, but that doesn't mean all of their customers care about that feature.  Most services have multiple features that each have selling points, but not all customers use all features.  Hiring a payment processor may well be cheaper than hiring a programmer for someone who wants to accept payments within the constraints of any number of existing sites/shopping carts.  This doesn't even factor in other costs and risks involved with accepting payments to a hot wallet that has to be directly linked to your site in some way.

The reason the words "instant conversion" is used, the reason it is so prominent, the reason why it's such a good selling point, and the reason why the program was created in the first place is all because the merchants as a whole don't want bitcoin, they want fiat.  The bigger and/or older the merchant is the more that will apply.

How many different ways must you hear it to understand what your mind already knows to be true.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JP_I9zNRpEo
For hard heads they say it over and over many different ways, "instant conversion", "guaranteed exchange rate", "no risk of volatility", "we take all of the risk of btc price volatility", and "you get every dollar you earned"  now why do you think they said this some many times, so many different ways?

All I have been saying in every post I have made is that you don't KNOW if or how much of the BitPay bitcoin receipts Titanium Comics has BitPay exchange immediately.  Even if 99.9+% of BitPay's customer base has BitPay convert 100% immediately, you aren't guaranteed to be right in your assumption or inference that any given BitPay customer is dumping bitcoin, and that was the point unamis was making.  Beyond that, discussion regarding BitPay's advertising and/or primary function/purpose are beside the point.  You didn't originally state that you do know (you said "I think it does"), so I haven't called you wrong and we are talking in circles for no reason.  As that is pointless, this will be my last post on the issue.

Good news. Digital goods are one place where Bitcoin would be a natural fit.
I really hope companies like marathonfoto.com start accepting Bitcoin.
