I'm not sure if folks are paying attention to the entire network. This morning we were at 3.6 - 3.8Ghash/s now we're at over 7Ghash/s in a few hours... what the hell is going on? Did someone plug in their super mining clusters or computers?

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Nope, that's what difficulty change does. Screws the numbers up for a while.

Really hope that's an error, if it's not we can probably expect another near 100% increase Sad

For the hundredth time:  The websites showing network hash rate are based off the time to solve the last X blocks.  The estimate network hash rate is always screwy after a difficulty change.  Wait 24 hours before your head explodes.

For 1 Thanks for explaining.

For 2 instead of saying for the hundredth time, maybe you should suggest that the admin put a STICKY post on this so people don't go crazy.

For what it's worth. That's just my suggestion.

Thanks and goodluck mining!

Sorry, it's just I've seen the same post within minutes of every difficulty jump for the past 2 months, and I'm getting crabby while waiting for my dedicated server to become available Sad.

Yeah I totally understand where you're coming from being a vet in the game. I had a question about your mining pool, how do you keep it running isn't it expensive to keep it going without charging any fees?

Or the machines have become sentient and this increase, due to the first human minds being wired into the network and tasked with hashing, is the only warning we'll get...

Nah we're cool, Vlad's mining array will go Skynet on him before that happens, so we'll have proper warning.

It's funny how this type of thread is getting more and more outrageous as we get through the difficulty spans. Full caps this time around. I'm expecting 1337 speak and a bunch of ~~~~ in 2000 blocks. Anyone taking bets?
