I use Gentoo Linux, 64-bit. When I tried to run (install_dir)/bin/64/bitcoin, I got

./bitcoin: error while loading shared libraries: libjpeg.so.62: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I've done a revdep-rebuild, and linking is already consistent. So how do do I get this running?
Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.
