I am been successfully mining for a few weeks now in windows with bfgminer 3.8.1 but am abit of a noob when it comes to any kind of linux. I have a redfury and a nanofury which minepeon doesn't find so I assume i need the latest version of bfgminer?

If so how do i go about updating?

Did you try updating your version of minepeon? Just a wild guess here.

it's a fresh install from sourceforge that I have done (0.2.4.1) which I believe is the current version and comes with an out dated version of bfgminer.... i think

If running bfgminer with "-S all" does not recognize the devices, then I think you would need to update the bfgminer to the latest version...
check below on how to update:

Noobie here.  I'm trying to get the bfgminer updated on minepeon to the latest 4.2.0 version.
I just want to get my g-blade gridseed to work on the RPi with Minepeon. Someone told me or I read it somewhere here that bfgminer 4.x has to be updated in order to get the G-blades to be seen.

Can someone show me how?  I don't know what the command structure is & I tried to follow the instructions posted on the  minepeon forum, http://minepeon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1151&p=7841#p7841, for cgminer while substituting "CGminer" for bfgminer wherever I could.  No such luck for this Linux dummy.

Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone. Noobie here.
I'm trying to get the bfgminer working on minepeon with the latest 4.2.0 version.
I just want to get my g-blade gridseed to work on the RPi with Minepeon. Someone told me or I read it somewhere here that bfgminer 4.x has to be updated in order to get the G-blades to be seen.  Ok I got to that part with the help of someone on another forum.
Now is there any other options I could use with bfgminer on the "Startup Settings" section?
This works so far.

#!/bin/bash
sleep 10
/usr/bin/screen -dmS miner /opt/minepeon/bin/bfgminer-gridseed --scrypt -S gridseed:all --set-device gridseed:clock=838 --failover-only -c /opt/minepeon/etc/miner.conf

Thanks in advance.

Anyone?

Hi all.   I broke my Minepeon v2.4.6 setup.
I don't know if the following is something I did or didn't do but here is my case.  After reading all this this boils down to the "PS:" request at the bottom.

I'm not sure if my issue is a bug or something stupid I may have overlooked when upgrading from v4.2.0 to v4.3.0, (when my problems started), with minimal dysfunctionality to upgrading to v4.4.0 with random blades just not hashing at all.
FYI I posted this somewhere else but can't recall where.  So I'll risk a slap on the cheek in reposting this.

The problem:

Minepeon had worked quite well for me with bfgminer v4.2.0 since it's v4.2.0. release.
So I forgot Murphy's Law: "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"..
I was following the steps at this link in another forum: Upgrade bfgminer to v4.2.0., until I decided to try the same steps to upgrade to v4.3.0 version & the v4.4.0.
Now, all I have are my gridseed g-blades dropping off after 2-3 hours (this didn't happen with v4.2.0) & not all will hash anymore.  Out of the 3 g-blades, each consisting of two boards, only 5 1/2 boards will hash, which randomly changes to another board not hashing, every time I restart bfgminer v4.3.0 or v4.4.0.

What I've done to try to correct, (noobie here so pls keep the laughter to a minimum if I did silly stuff)

(1) I unplugged & reseated all my cables (just incase gremlins)
(2)I reinstalled Minepeon v2.4.6 for Raspberry Pi model B onto a new SD card, performed the normal "git pull" & "pacman -Syu" commands.
(3) configured my fave pool, wemineltc.com.
(4) upgraded bfgminer to v4.3.0 a few days ago.
(5) then upgraded again a few hours ago or soon as I saw the forum post of it's new release, I forget.

This is what my config looks like in Minepeon for bfgminer:
#!/bin/bash
sleep 10
/usr/bin/screen -dmS miner /opt/minepeon/bin/bfgminer-gridseed --scrypt -S gridseed:all --set-device gridseed:clock=838 --failover-only -c /opt/minepeon/etc/miner.conf

(The snapshots at the bottom are recent ones after a restart 45 minutes later & the same after 6 hours last night of mining on my choice LTC pool www.wemineltc.com just to see if something had changed.)

...and...

PS: Can someone explain the steps required to downgrade from bfgminer v4.4.0 back to v4.2.0 on Minepeon/ArchLinux which worked quite well for me until I decided to try the new bfgminer v4.3.0 version & the v4.4.0.

Thanks.

can you please guide me to steps on how to install bfgminer 4.2 on minepeon? I have 2 usb antminers u2 running and would like to use the same pi to run girdseeds. I need to install another instance of bfgminer so it would run separate from the existing bfgminer which is the old version and running the antminers u2.

Hi dmz241.
Click on the "Upgrade bfgminer to v4.20" in my post above to see if that helps you any.
Sorry, it's all the help I can offer. I'm new to this myself, but the upgrade process laid out on that forum for Minepeon 2.4.6. & are mint instructions thanks to darkwind.

However, be warned.  I just upgraded two nights ago to bfgminer v4.4.0 & now I have problems with my Gridseed G-blades.  I have to keep sshing in all day to babysit them since they randomly stop mining after the upgrade from v4.2.0 to both versions 4.3.0 & v4.4.0.

The guys are hard at work addressing this to correct these new glitches I was told somewhere in here.
Read my post prior to your message to me.

Suzukii

Hi Mineforeman.

Just to give you a heads up...
If you recall my six Gridseed G-blade miners were randomly doing the zero hashing action on only one of the two boards on a single G-blade miner with Minepeon v2.4.6 for the RPi model B that I have, (I have two RPi's one of which I'm going to return), NWoolls created & still working on a bfgminer v4.4.0 version that seems to work better than the stock bfgminer v4.4.0.
Unfortunately, after about 5-6hrs the zero hashing on one side of the randomly selected G-blade by the gremlins returns.

Hi all.

I'm still at it with the random no-hashing issue I keep having everyday with my Raspberry Pi & now 8 Gridseed G-blades, up from 6 G-blades, new 6FT USB Cables (down from 10 & 15 footers).  And again, I even replaced the hub with a new Turcom 24 Port USB 2.0 Monster USB HUB W/ac Adapter Power Station.

I'm still not sure if this is a BFGminer issue with too many G-blades or not.
However, it works fine with up to 5 G-blades.

I updated BFGminer to the latest version, as of this writing, to v4.5.0.

Here are my results.

No Over-clocking see below:

Same thing but from the Minepeon WEBUI below:

See my previous post here, with the same results.

I don't know what else to do.

I get the same thing using Multiminer with bfgminer.  It's always a different G-blade that stays stuck on zero, always & only using BFGminer since all I do is LTC mine with these.

Any suggestions?

Regards,

Suzukii

I'm sorry to resuscitate this topic. But can anyone help me update Minepeon to the latest version of BFGMiner? I'm not seeing any tar.bz2 in the latest file. I guess I'm too stupid to figure it out myself. Thanks!

Next time instead of necro just make a new topic.
Try to use pacman -Syu on your terminal since its based on arch linux it will update all the programs or just write pacman -S bfgminer and it might download the latest version of bfgminer.

This is killing me spent all day trying to get this to update... Think if he want people to keep donating he'd get someone to maintain minepeon even if its just the odd half added arsed patch to add new updates and miners... Wouldn't be so bad if you could get around all the permission crap and just copy the new files over from a full version of linux front
