Zhou Tang - What happened with him?

Will someone fill me in real quick. I've been away for weeks, and I see there are many threads about it. Don't care to read them all, so hoping someone will fill me in real quick. Posting in Newbie board since it's appropriate to ask a probable dumb question.

I know he owned Bitcoinica or something, then sold it to someone else. Then there was question into whether or not he's a scammer. And he claims he's not responsible since he sold it.

So what happened, was it a big scam or something?
