There's only one straw man here and you're propping it up, nowhere do I state the point at which the ship vanishes, only that there's a convex dome of water that the globe can't exist without. If you sail from North America to Europe on a spherical object how can you not be sailing up the water at some point?  The water surface is never level on your model.  Your either sailing up or down (the entire time).   Please explain.
