That is a common misconception. While the Church believed that the Earth is the center of the solar system and the Universe, it did not claim that the Earth is flat. The Ptolemaic model that the Church endorsed included a globular Earth. It is interesting to note that Ptolemy did not put the Earth at the exact center and that this slight discrepancy was generally ignored.

- that evolution is real;
- that there is a black hole in the center of our galaxy.

How can we tell that these things are not known to be real or true or factual? Because we don't know that universe physics, the electromagnetic spectrum, and time weren't different when the light we are currently receiving was broadcast. Until we know how those things operated back then, and what their laws were, we will never be able to tell if any of the above 3 things are anywhere near true.

Any FE person can go to Kansas, and many other flat parts of the globe, and stand on the ground and imagine for a moment. He can say to himself, What would I see if the Earth were not flat, but were really a globe? The answer is, he would see exactly the same thing either way.

The Bible was meant for non-scientist, simple people types. It talked to them about what they saw in ways that they could relate to. It isn't meant for proving science of this kind. Attempting to use it to prove FE or GE fails.

However, Internet searches for Bible passages that show the earth is not flat, produce passages that rebut FE as well as passages that "prove" FE. So... this is the proof that the Bible is not for proving either FE or GE. The Bible is for saving souls.
