I found out about Bitcoin from the March 2011 Slashdot post about Mike Hearn's release of BitcoinJ. I've been enthralled ever since!

I found out a few weeks ago, but didn't read too much into it. 

Then I came upon some message board discussions last week and decided to test the waters.
I realize that for the mots part I've missed the boat.

It's still amazing to me to think of all of the people who got in early who have rediculous 5-6 x 5870 set up's on a single system and are crunching huge numbers.

Wish I would have found out several months ago Sad

Don't wish too much.  I've been here over a year, and I have never mined a block.  If everyone mined, this wouldn't work.

I found it on 4chan around February 2010. The post was someone complaining about how long it was taking to download blocks. Smiley

I've always been interested in decentralized systems such as BitTorrent, Tor, and Freenet, so I was immediately interested.

I found Satoshis whitepaper while googling for something like "encrypted money" in January 2010. I had been thinking about how to create unforgeable money for some time, but probably never would have come up with the blockchain solution.

I first heard about it on Wikipedia a long time ago, probably when I was looking up Liberty Dollars or something. I didn't pay any attention to it, it wasn't worth anything. When it was worth $1 my friend got into it, and I bought $40 of Bitcoins from him. Should have bought A LOT more.
