These donations came at the right time. The RUR vs USD exchange rate is at all time low, and therefore, the purchasing power of these Bitcoins are quite high. Snowden will be happy!

Anything credible that makes you think he's in Russia? Or spending roubles?

In light of a sudden “executive order” issued by Barack Obama in America, many Bitcoin redditors surmised that it's now illegal to donate money to people like Edward Snowden.
Let's not distort the news any further. The executive order <here> states that: Government can confiscate cryptos without warning if the people owning them is engaging in Significant Malicious Cyber-Enabled Activities in or outside of the United States. Because cryptos cannot be traced easily and transactions are not reversible. They seize the coins without prior warning. It is like freezing your bank accounts. They will return your cryptos (unfreeze you bank account) when you are proven to be innocent. Is it illegal to donate to Edward Snowden? I don't know. But donating surely is not engaging in malicious cyber enabled activities.

No, I said credible I'm not saying he's not in Russia, just that the evidence is : "My name's Edward Snowden, and I've been living in exile in Russia for the past year". That's not credible, neither are glossy TV show appearances (very much the opposite), and certainly not any FSB statement. I'd be happy to accept any credible evidence that Edward Snowden is living in Russia

If you really need it that credible, then you have to travel to Moscow and meet him in person. But then how do you know that the person is the real Snowden?

I don't care where he is, but I can't just sit back and let people uncritically repeat the claims of a whole cast of dubious characters. I don't know the truth, and don't claim to. But neither does much anyone else. Why would anyone believe what Snowden says?

Why would anyone believe what Snowden says?
Nothing is for sure by 100%. Maybe Edward Snowden never existed and everything is just made up by the US gov. Not impossible, but how likely is that? I think that both Snowden and his story is real and true is much more likely.

I think that both Snowden and his story is real and true is much more likely. So, Snowden's hanging out in Hawaii at a crypto party with prominent members of the Tor Project and Electronic Frontier Foundation shortly before he fled to Hong Kong, sending emails saying "there's stuff to talk about" at said party, and the US intelligence agencies just didn't notice? Shut the fuck up. You obviously don't know his story as well you think you do.

I didn't claim I know the truth, I said it is very likely by my impression given the evidence. It's not a good style to attack people providing facts when not having anything that counter them. Anyway, the story about his person is completely negligible given the impact that it caused on society in general.

If you believe every uncorroborated story from intelligence assets, then you'd also believe in the actual existence of James Bond and Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory.
A highly crucial aspect of the work of the intelligence agencies is managing public perception. When a news story relating to the intelligence agencies appears in every media outlet the world over, the probability is very high that this is coming with their blessing (and certainly some interference, and possibly they could have contrived it all themselves).
Why were the US Justice department and/or the media not interested in all the other NSA whistleblowers that came before Snowden? What they revealed was just as classified and just as damning. And they didn't engage in a hugely dramatic international manhunt, defecting to Russia in the supposed confusion. They chilled out on US soil, unmolested by prosecution (with only one notable exception), and there are several NSA whistleblowers like this.
Honestly, if this all passes your BS meter, then I will extend my invitation to anyone: shut. the fuck. up.

'Obama Effect' Results in 200 Bitcoin Donations to Edward Snowden
In light of a sudden “executive order” issued by Barack Obama in America, many Bitcoin redditors surmised that it's now illegal to donate money to people like Edward Snowden.
Haha. First thing that came to my mind was 'fuck da police'. This is just another way or trying to cripple people financially so they often cannot afford legal fees or even to survive. Bunch of cunts they are.

That doesn't mean they can actually do it.

Obama and his government still have the power to over regulate or Ban crypto currencies in the USA. Why do we need to through gas on a open flame, by doing this? I normally do not get involved into politics, and I appreciate what some people want to do with this, but it's in my opinion counter productive to do this with Bitcoin. They say, when the USA cough, the rest of the world gets the cold and this is true for Bitcoin too.... If they BAN Bitcoin in the USA, we will all suffer. If you want to support him, use the US Dollar... they can BAN that any day, and it will be good for Bitcoin.
