I have an amd R9 280 graphics card on linux and my hash rate is 15.xx kh/s.

I think it shoud be much higher.

Please comment and help me fix it.

What kind of hash algorithm are you working with your card? The hashrate is so low that it can't be sha256 or scrypt.

Mine at Jonny's Pool

Please provide more information like what mining software you're using, what coin you're trying to mine, are you mining solo or to a pool, linux version, driver version, etc.

Just telling us you think you card should hash faster doesn't give us anything to go on.  I'd say you're probably not using the card at all, but rather are CPU mining...

I am using sgminer 4.1.271 with script with the nicehash pool. The linux version is linux mint 17.0.

Seems that the hash rate should be about 600 or 700 kh/s.

You comment about the card not being used at all would not surprise me. Thing is, I do not know what to look for or how to fix it.

You'd probably have more luck in the alt-coin forums - specifically here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=632503.0.  Hope you get it sorted!

Thanks for the replies.

Wolf's binaries are unfamiliar to me. Can you give me more information on setup, etc.

Also, I tried x11 briefly with nicehash and it seemed not to go anywhere as I recall.

Also, I have had a small amount of bitcoin to be paid out from nicehash for over a month now that has not been done. I thought they had no minimum.

Thanks for the reply.

I downloaded the sgminer version 5.1 from nice hash but it will not run for me. So, I think I have a dual problem.
1. low hash rate
2. sgminer 5.1 will not run (error message: bash: ./sgminer: cannot execute binary file: Exec format error )

Please advise.

Ah! You may be right about the windows version for version 5.1. However, I did download the Linux one but it appears that the archive may contain the windows version.

Here is the link for the download page.
https://www.nicehash.com/index.jsp?p=software#sgminer

Please review.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Going back to sgminer version 4.1.271, I do not know what just happened, but my hash rate just jumped to about 600 kh/s when I changed the command from:

./sgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.nicehash.com:3333 -u 1H8mrvThSv9oUkXJdEyLkRqYb1Hr96mnec.LS1 -p x

to this:

./sgminer -I 18 -g 1 -w 256 -o stratum+tcp://stratum.nicehash.com:3333 -u 1H8mrvThSv9oUkXJdEyLkRqYb1Hr96mnec.LS1 -p x

Please explain.
