Hi. How does POS work? Do I need to notify the dev the amount of coins that I own, or is syncing the network and having any amount enough?

it's enough to just hold the coins. make sure to keep your wallet unlocked, or else staking won't work

I receive regardless of the amount of coins that I am holding? And do I need to stay with the wallet always opened?

You only need to unlock it once. You should see forging in the bottom right, then you are forging .So Wallet needs to run but can stay locked after you unlocked it once. The more coins you hold the higher the probability that you forge a block.

Something is wrong with the blockexplorer at qora.co.in!

My account balance dropped to zero and the last block is over two days old.

Probably the server that hosts the explorer needs a service restart.

Hmm... In this case it is better to buy a Raspberry Pi. Do all POS/POS+POW wallet cryptocurrencies need to be running 24 hours per day in order to mint?

Sort of.  You are only forging when your client is running and forging is turned on.  However, forging in Qora isn't a time-based system where your account is placed in a form of "queue" where larger balances get higher priority and when it's your turn, you get to forge a block if your client is available.

Instead, the larger your balance the better the chances of you finding a block.

Regarding the forging algorithm, every 10 blocks Qora recalculates it's difficulty.  In a nutshell, it looks at how long it took to mine those previous 10 blocks, looks at the total number of coins held by each forger and then derives a new difficulty.  10 blocks should take ~10 minutes to forge.  If it takes more or less than 10 minutes then difficulty will be scaled based off of the time and the balances that were used to forged the previous 10 blocks.

If I recall correctly, time might also be a factor of difficulty when forging a specific block.  In other words, the longer it takes to forge a block, relative difficulty my decrease so that smaller accounts can find a block.

Personally, I think the algo could be tweaked such that if a few MAJOR wallets go offline then the, smaller accounts can quickly forge and re-adjust to a relative difficulty.  Also, I think the difficulty adjustment period could be lowered (to possibly every block but certainly every 2-3 blocks) and then recalculated based off of the previous 10-20 blocks using more specific mathematics than simple averages.

I've not written any form of spec about it coz I've not thought about it enough to present any details that could make the block-process function more smoothly with time.  Also, I need to be sure I fully understand the Qora algorithm.  At the momement, I think I've wrapped my head around about 85% of the process.

A Personal Quote on BTT from 2011:
"I'd be willing to make a moderate "investment" if the value of the BTC went below $2.00.  Otherwise I'll just have to live with my 5 BTC and be happy. :/"  ...sigh.  If only I knew.

Sort of.  You are only forging when your client is running and forging is turned on.

So I guess you guys usually mint with a Raspberry Pi in order to waste less energy, since a computer turned on 24 hours per day would considerably raise the power bill.

Same to me. I am waiting for three weeks now to get my Qora out of Poloniex. I wrote a support ticket where I friendly ask about when withdrawal function will be available again. I have not got a response yet :/

Has anyone been able to successfully deposit/withdraw Qora from Poloniex or Bter. I'm approaching 4 weeks now and still deposit credit. Meanwhile, their address they provided me is generating blocks.

@devs - just to confim, there are no pending issues that are being directly communicated between Bter, Poloniex and yourselves?

Hey Qora Community,

We're in the process of setting up a Beyond Bitcoin Community Hangout with some of the Qora Devs (Vrontis is one) sometime within the next few weeks, hopefully.

We're also trying to get someone from CIYAM to talk as well, perhaps vbcs will join in, but we'll talk with cass and others and see what we can get together until we have the show lined out.

To get a a gauge on interest and community participationg, how many of you would be interested in attending the Hangout on Mumble?

https://beyondbitcoin.org/qora-decentralized-web-and-blogs

Update : We have Vrontis from Qora and Ian Knowles from CIYAM willing to participate. We will have a set time setup soon and I'll update everyone here and on slack.

Sent my last and final email to Bter. If I do not receive an update by tomorrow, I am opening the scam thread. I've tried to be patient, but, I think it's about time to take action. The shame is I pretty much had a hassle free 1 1/2 years of trading on both Bter and Poloniex without issue, but this last round of incompetence or just plain disregard takes the cake.

@ALLBITCOINTALKUSERS - If you are interested in trading Qora, DO NOT use Bter or Poloniex, you may never see your money and if/when you do, the opportunity to make any trades in hopes of a profit will have certainly passed.

Regarding technical analysis for qora market:

Right now we are in "accumulation phase" according to Dow Theory. That's where the smart money and informed investors enter. Qora does not fall below this point, there is constant buying pressure, even though there are difficulties due to the situation with exchanges (which is not qoras fault). If the exchanges worked properly and the sell wall (@11 sat bter) gets eaten, then there is a very high possibility that we'll see a high up trending market that will last for long.

Since qora is the most high-tech & innovative coin, its place rightfully resides among the top coins.

Now, when people start to learn about qora and experience its innovations (e.g. decentralized web etc), it's crucial that there is a stable and trustful way for them to enter the market. Therefore, we need reliable exchanges or even BUY/SELL topics with escrow. Anything that helps.

Just my 2 Qora

Thanks! I made a complaint.

The price dump seems to come from the bugged traders on Polo and Bter which want to get out of those exchanges by selling all their Qora.
Acutally a good place to buy more Qora when we would have gotten a reliable exchange.

There are several other coins now complaining including BitShares.

I'll wait until the decentralized options are completely ready. Fuck centralized exchanges.
