Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

where have you download your bootstrap.dat file? overwise, not sure you still need bootstrap.dat with Bitcoin Core: 0.10.0 ... just update your client.

Just download Bitcore 0.10.0 and let it run it will update on its own and will be quite..fast. It's the latest update for Bitcoin and from what I have heard syncing on it is really fast.

Why do you think it does not recognize the file? There is no "Im using the file now", it just starts syncing.

hey johny, i advice you to let the client sync the blockchain by itself.. boosting the process isn't always a good option if you used unverified sources for the download of blockchain-data. bootstrap.dat btw allows your client to sync the initial blocks much faster (because from local storage...). but again, i prefer downloading the chain from the network and trusted random nodes.

After placing it in the directory, start up the wallet and it will start to sync to the latest block. Note that the format is bootstrap.dat not bootstrap.dat.torrent. The recent upgrade to headers-first synchronizations has made this optional since it can now downloads simultaneously from all peers.

So you are implying that if I am in need of a $10 note and the shops only accept that, I should just get 10x $1 coins? It doesn't solve the problem if OP decides to use the features in bitcoin core. More importantly, Bitcoin Core offers much more security assurance and privacy over SPV clients. Also, Bitcoin Core allows users to setup a node.
