Hello/Salut/Hallo/Hola

I have talked to OKtoshi.  I am inspired by his passion for crypto and selflessness in OKcash's pursuit of being a premier coin. I sought to speak with him to gain position among OKcash's team.  In one of our discussions, he spoke at length about this being a community driven coin.  I asked, why do you think, given the level of development that has occurred, the coin is not more popular?  His response is what prompted this post.

"... I feel it is because I focus more on doing real work for OK, instead of hyping the news.  The news, is community territory.  My ethics won't allow me to do other work than create an innovative product to help people be their own banks, and reach a financial freedom eventually." - OKtoshi

My goal is to organize and rally the community that OKcash has grown, grow the community more, and seek further adoption. I ask for nothing in return.
This will be one of many posts outlining my goals, ethics, and tactics.  Please feel free to direct message me if you have any input or please discuss here.

OKorator

Here i am guys, one year later Smiley  Cheers to all of you that have been apart of this journey thus far...

We're not even close done yet...

Hope this new version of the wallet will help me be able to stake properly with my wallet.

Since the very beginning, I have issues which nobody were able to fix:
after 1 or 2 opening, coins disappear, and wallet keeps syncing for ever.

We tried everything.... at least, when I reinstall I always see my coins
but the purpose of this wallet is to stake.... which is not the case here.

While installing the new version.... wallet is syncing... hopefully only
for a normal period of time and will able to display the coins properly
in order to finally stake ;-)

I too see this problem sometimes and i close the wallet and open it for the second time, it works fine..
If one is using Windows 7 or newer and doesn't shut down properly the computer (or power failures are occurring), the file system might be the culprit (along a few other compounding factors to be mentioned a bit later).
Also, if the "hibernate" or "suspend" features are used, the "peers.dat" can end up containing peers that banned one's host on grounds of misbehavior (i.e. they initiated a request, one's host started to respond then went silent for the rest of the communication).
On top of those two major reasons (largely ignored by users and, hopefully, less ignored by devs), there lies another monster reason for apparently inexplicable behaviors: leveldb 4.8, the most used database in crypto-currencies wallets and daemons. Just read about leveldb on Wikipedia:
Quote
LevelDB is widely noted for being unreliable and databases it manages are prone to corruption.[13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20] Academic studies of past versions of LevelDB[21][22] have found that, under some file systems, the data stored in those versions of LevelDB might become inconsistent after a system crash or power failure. LevelDB corruption is so commonplace that corruption detection has to be built in to applications that use it.[23]
Even the mighty Bitcoin is prone to database corruption, but with code managed by an entire foundation... I bet their code includes checks and repairs that other devs are just not noticing... and even so, BTC core wallet might give a bit of tachycardia to a quite large userbase from time to time.
Lesson to learn: back up your "wallet.dat" AND your private keys in as many (secure) ways you can imagine. Then, in case of a malfunction, use your brain to figure out what might have happened, then try to solve the problem by yourself in a consistent and rational way. If that doesn't work (you reached the limits of your current knowledge), then ask politely for help.
Usually, when troubles occur, reinstalling and resync-ing (either from scratch, from a bootstrap.dat or from a database snapshot) solves the problem. But, if the problem is user's behavior... there's not much to be done.

ROKOS v7 "core" for Pine64+ screen shots

"ROKOS" Initial Setup

Steps for first boot

*Pine64+
User: pi  / Password: rokos , follow normal setup.

a) Login and open a terminal.
b) type:      sudo ./resize-sdcard.sh       (this will resize and use all the space from the SD card)
c) System ready for use.

Extra info command to auto-sync the OKCash chain in minutes:

a) Open terminal.
b) type:         ./ok-sync-arm64.sh           (this will download and unzip the latest ok-blockchain snapshot to the okcash datafolder for Pine64+ devices)
c) start your wallet after the process is done and give it some minutes.
d) your OK wallet is ready to be used.

Done, enjoy your ROKOS v7

*BananaPi PRO:    (v7 update coming up)

*Raspberry Pi:    (v7 update coming up)

Welcome to the ROKOS Desktop

Final steps / BTC and OK Clients

a) Go to Menu > Blockchain and Click on the Bitcoin Wallet

This will open the Bitcoin wallet with the option to select where we will be saving the BTC chain.

*For BTC the initial sync will take some days, wallets are fully usable after being fully Synchronized.

b) Always remember to make constant backups of your wallets and save them in USB or external media.

Use your Bitcoin wallet to plug HW and mine BTC, Send/Receive Bitcoin,
become a full node and support the Bitcoin network, develop new applications,
etc, the limit is only in your imagination.

Important Security Notice:
*) Remember to create a backup for your Wallets, you can use the wallets to create them and save in different folders on a USB device.
You should ALWAYS have a backup of your wallet, Pine64+, Raspberry Pi and IoT Hardware, Debian and ROKOS Software are under development hence not responsible for missuses, electrical or compatibility issues that might cause a loss of information. It is as secure as one's ability to take care for it, same as a computer, so always have a backup of your wallets on an external device.

*) Some people tend to recommend getting a 128Gb MicroSD HC (High speed) , at the same time it does work, We do not recommend this solution, as microSD cards tend to get corrupted by the number of overwrites, to ensure the best functionality and security you should use an external HDD/USB storage device to store the chain.

You can start testing and developing new integration with the Bitcoin and OK Tech for your IoT projects.

As I know the buyer, I can say 2mil of the coins will go into staking for months.

Therefore, if you have a lump of OK and would like to "contribute" to a great story. Hmmppff ... not sure how much I can share, but let's say it's a good one.

I'm so proud and honoured to be a part of OKCash ... almost 2 years have passed and the OK Legend just gets better and better.

Coinmarket Cat prowls once again.
