Hello, totally new here.

A friend asked me to install the energycoin app on his Rasberry Pi ( model 4)
First i tried: ubuntu-mate-18.04.2-beta1-desktop-armhf+raspi-ext4.img.xz.torrent ( not even load the sdcard boot)

second i try the 32-bit version of Ubuntu 19.10 , what did installed the package :

Yet, no desktop icon is shown.
if i browse to the file_system and choose from there: Desktop
The EnergyCoin icon shows up.
If i double-click   Nothing happens.
If i try to move it to the "desktop" , it say i do not have permissions.
If i goto properties->permissions and change permissions to user : ubuntu.
Still not works.

This is not for me, it is for a friend, i would like to succeed for him to install this Energycoin app ( he sells solar-panels, no idea if there is a relation with it).
Can someone help me out?

Hi Henry,

I'm a big fan of the RasberryPI and I very regret the client on ubuntu-mate-16.04.2-desktop-armhf-raspberry-pi.img.xz does not work very well.
I tried also the version you mention but with the same result.

The reason ubuntu-mate-16.04.2 not working was that updates of the system interfere with the Energycoin wallet.
Now I'm trying to make it work again and maybe you have also tips to prevent updates if this approach is not working.
In system configuration, I set the updates to NEVER.
Maybe this will do the trick? A stable client on a very energy efficient device.

Hi, remember that the coins that do not meet the requirements get removed from the system for security and quality standards.



Energycoin can not be compiled with new boost, nor is prepared for arm, and have not had an update since 2017.

Even so, because your support and interest, for cordiality and to support the community,
I've fixed Energycoin code and setup an easy Install over ROKOS 10 [either core or flavors]

How to install Energycoin to the ROKOS system

Open a terminal and type:

unzip energycoin.zip

cd energycoin

chmod 755 *

sudo cp * /usr/local/bin

cd ..

sudo rm -r energycoin

sudo rm energycoin.zip

Now you can start energycoin-qt or energycoind from any terminal window.

I'm not active for ENRG but this hurt my feelings.
I see my baby crying and I can't help to stop this.

All I can say is the same for any market which is prices can be inaccurate when set in a rush like the current action thats happening in all kinds of markets from crypto through to oil or tech generally.    Problem is if theres alot of bargains out there then its immediate competition for every other alternative to that choice.    At some point the bond markets with their fake self appointed government rates are going to melt and thaw out all the value thats been locked up supporting bad debt and bad governments over spending.  Cash value will spread out to things that work and are useful to people for themselves not the central political economy so much.      I see that as inevitable, its either that or we fall into communism and facism and other nonsense which is what we spent the last century doing so hopefully we dont repeat.

Longevity counts in ENRG favour I think and its not hard old or new people to be involved in a basic way.  I still see all of crypto as developing in unknown and unexpected ways.
   I just noticed my blocks are frozen not updating and I need to search the old command line switch to revise or repair the on disk blocks.   I used to have a few batchfiles to do this automatically as I stored it on a laptop it was often out of sync but I will look around, been ages since I needed to do it    -rescan might be the one I remember, easy listing in the menus

I would connect my smartmeter to the ENRG ecosystem in a blink of an eye.
In about a year I would like to have solar panels on my roof to generate my own electricity, which I could than sell in excess and buy when I have not enough.

A decentralized energy-grid would help tremendous in the reliability of the grid (although in the Netherlands that is pretty good, but other parts of the world would benefit even more), but most importantly it would speed the way to a sustainable production and consumption. I could sell my excess solar during the day, or maybe when I have battery storage I can sell it a bit more expensive during the night.
I see great potential and I am very exited

Only one time in 2015 there was a problem with the blockchain but the community has fixed that and Jan became the new community leader.

Thank you for your support and trust in EneryCoin.
The future development is not in my hands, I'm in the same situation as al other investors.
For health reasons I left Energycoin Foundation as a board member and now and then I speak to them occasionally.
I share now my talks to them because it is information want to hear.

Anne-Marie told me that ECF is still working on projects, most of them are academic or are proposals like the Neighborhood Bank.
But in January 2021 maybe a hackathon will be organized and made use of the possibilities EnergyParty offers.
EnergyParty we use as a web wallet see https://wallet.energywallet.eu/ for EnergyCoin but actually offers an Etherium like token ecosystem based on CounterParty technology.

So also Brian called me and asked me more insight into the EnergyParty ecosystem and its potential.
It is no Ethetium but it can be programmed that it acts like Etherium as Prove of Concept IMO.
So EnergyParty was my dream on top of the EnergyCoin blockchain and maybe this dream becomes true.

I doubted if they are organized yet, there was a message that the telegram group was down and I don't know another channel for ENRG yet.
A few months ago I had a talk with Brian he asked me about EnergyParty possibilities but I heard nothing since then.
The foundation did a project with the University of Utrecht for local exchange of surplus of solar energy but they used Hyperledger instead of EnergyCoin for the showcase.
There is no communication with the community here on bitcointalk where it all started and that is strange IMO.
I'm the founder of the foundation and I had to leave because of health and conflicts of insight.
I have no intention to take my position back, it gave me so much stress and I want to enjoy my life.
But it is hard to take my distance and give the future of ENRG in the hands of others.
The dream I had to create a currency based on Green Energy Ecosystem is far away and regulation issues created a huge gap for possible applications and adoption.

I keep my PC running 24/7 to support the network and hope one day an ENRG application can be the start of my dream to come true.

You will not find ENRG on the Indodax exchange, because what is listed on Indodax is NRG. ENRG and NRG are different coins even though they look very similar.
