There are accusations that the numbers are fudged (75 million users). Nonetheless, this has potential.

Yes, I have read that 75 million is the number if unique visits to the site, I don't really know it

More news on their absurdly large numbers? There's already a 4-page thread over here with this same discussion: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1033268.40

It sets an example of integrating into bitcoin for social sites, especially for the biggest social website Facebook.

Pretty sure this is integration on a competing social site from south america, not facebook. It is pretty big news despite whatever else you might think about Xapo.

I think he means it will show facebook they aren't first at it and maybe push them to do it. If that's the case then it's very good news and very trendy for the future. Bullish and then some wouldn't you agree? Good timing to flip the bird to bears and this prior current market.

Taringa has 27,000,000 million registered users... and about 300 000 of them are active every day. I think it is time to address the 1MB blocks limitation.... a huge surge in new Bitcoin users and the increased transactions would surely influence the blockchain or are they going to run a "in-house" system with Xapo, for it to run off-chain? Still good news for the whole Bitcoin community, if more people and big businesses adopt or incorporate it.

that discussion is totally different than that thread is about Tringa integration Bitcoin using XAPO and the other is about quantity of 12 Millions Bitcoin users that XAPO CEO claims that.

It will be run off-chain, as the Taringa! platform is wholly integrated with Xapo.

So the made-up numbers have nothing to do with it being the "largest" bitcoin integration like this thread is entitled?

This is great news, for anybody who doesn't know Taringa, they are huge in Latin America, specially in Mexico and Argentina.
In the case of Argentina, to give this exposure to Bitcoin, in a economy that suffers a 40% anual inflation, currency controls (no free markets and several exchange rates for the devaluated local currency) and where most of the population don't have bank accounts, it's great news.
I'm still not sure how it will be implemented but it will definitely help in introducing Bitcoin into new users.

I'd prefer to address Warrior B's very important, and accurate statement vs. splitting hairs on the terminology of "users", but I will address both. This integration is huge because, regardless of the english speaking/european world's unfamiliarity with Taringa! it is a massively popular site, that ranks #16 in Argentina (the sites between 1-15, you've heard of everyone, and most are variants of widely popular sites like Google.com.ar vs. Google.com, Yahoo.com.ar, Amazon, etc.). More importantly, it's users live in countries, like Argentina, that suffer economic depressions regularly, and currently has 40% inflation. The countries that need bitcoin most. The average person here has no idea what it's like to live in a country with currency controls, hyper-inflation, poor financial services. Try paying your rent, in cash, where the largest bill is only worth about $8USD. Bitcoin solves many of the issues Argentines experience day to day, so from a mass adoption strategy, this partnership is huge, and the single largest introduction of bitcoin to a social platform yet. Taringa! has 75 million unique visitors to the site. 27 million are registered users. I would often visit, and read Reddit, for example, long before I became a registered user, and most would accept, that I was a user of the site. There are currently 200k users browsing the site as we speak (some registered, some not).

Yes, I have read that 75 million is the number if unique visits to the site, I don't really know it Taringa is fucking huge, trust me I have Argentinian friends. That site reunites basically all spanish speaking countries in one, so do the math and you can guesstimate the insane amount of traffic that site gets. This is big, big news.
