like the title says, I need to see a picture of two of an 8 GPU setup. I have enough cards and PS is big enough but I can only connect 4 x 6870 to a 1200w PS. Reason being that on the 6870 and 5830 they have 2 - 6pin plugs to provide power to gpu(not dual gpu cards) and the PS I have has 2 - 6pin to dual8(6+2) and 4 - 6pin to 6pin connectors and the cards require both plugs to provide power to GPU. I got 2 - 6pin to dual8(6+2) from a fellow member and can hook up 6 x 5830.

To hook 8 GPU up I need 2 more of those plugs correct?
And where do you plug in the extra GPU's? get a PCI to PCI-e riser? Powered or non-powered?

Again that is why I would like to see some pics of the 8 GPU rigs, Maybe take a shot of the risers connecting to MB and a shot of the PS cables to the GPU's If anyone could help out, it would be greatly appreciated.

I dont think there are many 8 card setups, most of what I have read is that it causes a lot of issues and isnt worth the hassle.

The short answer is that you use 2 psus.

If you've only got 6 pcie slots, stick with that.  If you had a board with 8, they make molex to pcie6/8 connectors.

I only know of one guy here who had an 8 GPU set-up and that was jimm_64 and he used 4 5970's for his rigs with two seasonic 750 W PSU's hooked together to get the job done.

I tried this for months to no avail with linux and by the time I started using windows7 on all my rigs I just didn't feel like messing with my machines anymore.

I think Vladimir and a few others also had 4x5970's going but I don't think anyone has done it with single GPU cards.

I have 4 5970's in a single rig, which is 8 GPU's. Uses approximately 1040 watts at the wall, using a single PSU (rosewill lightning 1300W. 80plus gold). Using Windows 7 x64, driver 11.12, sdk 2.1, bfgminer 2.7.4, phatk kernel, vectors 2, worksize 128, 10 intensity. Having no problems once I weeded out the bad riser and found one of the GPU's doesn't like a certain memory range. Core speed of each GPU is fine tuned and maxxed, any higher and it causes driver resets. If you're looking for a picture of the physical rig itself, it is the one in the lower right in the second picture.
