It bitcoins has real global succes and becomes and world recognsied and valuable new kind of money, what about the illegal business? I mean, Its clearly that selling drugs, guns, explosives, doing money laundry is speacially easy to do with bitcoins, since its anonimity and zero transaction fees. The examples may be a little extreme, but you what I mean.

Is there any really solutions for this? Im doing mining and i already made "real money" with bitcoins, but i cant just ignore this. Do we really want this kind of uncontrolled business going on everywhere?

The problem is not with Bitcoin, the problem is that some asshole has made perfectly valid businesses illegal.

Do we really want this kind of uncontrolled business going on everywhere?

Yes we do is my short answer.

If you want to have the freedom to spend your money as you see fit, you need to protect that freedom across the board. You can't pick and choose because as soon as someone has the power to regulate, they always, always abuse this power to enrich themselves and rob the rest.

I rather have freedom and deal with those who would want to harm me directly instead of giving someone a power they will eventually learn to abuse. Besides none of the merchandise you listed is harmful in of itself. It's the people that use it to cause harm which are the real problem. Kind of like a gun, which is just a tool. It takes a person to aim and fire it.

And one last thing people will always get what they want. You can't stop the black market. I mean just look at the drug war in the US. It's unstoppable. Prohibition never works. I suggest you head over to mises.org and study up on it.

My personality type: INTJ - please forgive my weaknesses (Not naturally in tune with others feelings; may be insensitive at times, tend to respond to conflict with logic and reason, tend to believe I'm always right)

It's also pretty easy to do with greenbacks, which I imagine will be the discerning criminal's currency of choice for the foreseeable future.

Thanks for the answers. I dont really believe in all the things i asked. I've been asked with this questions and found myself with some doubt about how tho answer properly to this question. Its clear that Bitcoin proclaims a revolution in how everything works (because yes, everything works with money right now).

Wink

If you learn any lesson in your whole life it should be to never ever give someone the power to regulate your money. EVER!

What about child pornography. Do you think it should be someones opinion if its right or wrong? I think we all can agree this is wrong, and well also against the law. Without any controls over this dirty type business and all the anonymity of bitcoins, how could we control this kind of stuff. I totally agree no one should tell you what you can and you cant do with your own money, but theres also laws, things that we as a society agree and decide whats good or bad to do.

Well, we could outlaw photographs, the internet, and money... (and still have the same problem).

Or we could remove offenders against children from society, for good. And make a fine example of them while you do it. Public draw and quarter should do.

In other words, go after the criminal, not the tool.

I know you were asking PabloW, but I just couldn't stop myself.

Just like crime itselft its obviously unstoppable, but there ways to at least decrease them in some percentage. Something is better than nothing, dont you think?

That's not really an answer. How would you decrease it? What something would you do?

Still waiting for an idea. It should not involve roving gangs of armed gunmen; that's what we have now.
