I'm under the slight impression that this is just another thread where someone is doing his/her best in convincing no one but themselves that getting invested in Bitcoin is a bad idea. Well, no one is forcing you to invest into it Smiley Others like to, actually Smiley

That, or they're making themselves feel better after losing it all...  Wink

Ha, yeah! It basically boils down to the same thing, actually. It's a sort of confirmation bias, where people reason in a way to support their own opinion. In this situation he/she either lost their holdings somehow, maybe unable to get back in, or maybe sold them out of fear and is now convincing themselves that it is better to stay out. Or, well, they think Bitcoin is interesting, but they're too afraid to actually invest some money.

Here's a great reason to stay out: an ever-falling price.

I come back after three months to see if bitcoiners had given up and gotten jobs yet, here is bitcoin news summary of the three months:

1. No news (other than bad)

2. Lot's of news (none good)

3. Scams, wasteful and inefficient mine losses continue as they always do, and always will until zero. There is not even a point enumerating them, like counting cavities in a meth mouth

4. bitcoin remains confined largely to darknet uses such as child pornography, drug and weapons sales and human trafficking funds for ISIS

5. The vast majority of people (99.99%) when asked, "do you bitcoin?" respond "huh?" whereas the remaining: "yes that's an obvious fraud" (0.009%) or "yes I have been defrauded" (0.0009%) or "yes I am a Chinese/Ukrainian/Silicon Valley hacker that defrauds with bitcoin" (0.0001%).

Let's see...forgetting something...oh yes, price is 10% lower. Cheers!  Grin

Obvious troll.  I wonder why the mods aren't temp banning him to discourage these types of behavior.  Time to improve the quality of this forum.

I have to admit, I did my share of trolling when I got bored and got away with it.  But if I was temp banned for a few days, it will discourage me from doing so.

Nah, it will not work.... These trolls/shills hide behind newbie accounts, so they have nothing to loose. I believe in freedom of speech, and it's actually fun to proof these guys wrong.

They disappear into their caves, when the price of Bitcoin increase anyways.  Tongue

Someone should just track and expose them in public, and make a fool of them... Anyone?

I'm thinking more about the state of the quality of this forum.  It's really low because of these trolls, sockpuppets and shills hiding behind newbie accounts.  Or does Theymos all care about  is the forum's activity not the quality...?

this is funny, the only difference is that back then there weren't so many trolls(newbie member) like now, all i see in those old thread are hero or legendary members
Maybe a member status should be required to post a new thread in this sub, it would cut down on the troll "Bitcoin is done" post.

Well there is always the thought that there are good newbies among them, but it's these spoiled ones that make the whole rank stink.
Three months later I think the depression is here for the most part price wise, fundamentally still waiting on the stability from merchant adoption and selling to balance out at a price level.

Does bitcoin fall in 2015 or in the next years to come? Probably no, because there are too many rich interests standing ready to throw good money to rescue the cryptocurrency experiment, thus preventing an outright or dramatic collapse. But I know for sure that  the chances of bitcoin, the most popular of cryptocurrencies, making it as a mainstream currency are now zero.

It's certainly interesting to see whether we're now finally at a turning point. Until now the pattern since the beginning of January unfortunately also matches the typical pre-drop pattern, so we're not safe yet. Today we seem to have left the small downwards channel of April, which makes me cautiously optimistic.

Bitcoin's value has actually changed only a little over the past 3 months, but the US dollar has become much more expensive because of the oil situation. Remember the dollar:btc exchange rate has TWO variables, not one!

Remember Aaron Swartz, a 26 year old computer scientist who died defending the free flow of information.

I don't care much about the exchange rates. Bitcoin was created for ideological purposes. Among its main aims were to weaken the control of central banks and to create a decentralized currency which would protect our assets from inflation. Despite all the setbacks, Bitcoin is still serving its purpose.  Grin

But it needs to prevail in order to be useful. The best and most decentralized, and most secure currency doesn't serve any purpose if no one is using it. And if its relative value to other goods or currencies is highly volatile or only going down, people won't adopt it.

Already more than one million people are using Bitcoin, which is actually a huge number for a 6-year old currency. Recently the adoption has suffered due to various high-profile scandals (such as the Mt Gox robbery and Silk Road). Once people forget these scams / scandals, the adoption will continue to rise upward.
