Hello to you all, thanks for looking in, Here are my thoughts quick and simply, I have been on this site for a short time in relation to most, But I love it here and wish to help as much as I can, I hate adverts, I dont have a T.V. I rarely listen to radio, So much of our lives are wasted watching/listening to what we should/shouldn't buy/do with our lives.

So basicly here is my plan, I am going to aquire a few Advert slots here on this forum, and create a donation pool to keep this site alive and kicking, and filter out unnessacery adverts, I am putting in myself to get it rolling, If you would like to help, please donate To the address in my sig.

Now for the trolls Curious I will try and pre-empt some questions.

Q) your doing this to make some!

A) Well not a question really, but I hope to build a little fund to help this site, The "buying advertisment slots" started here to help generate some revinue, I am just helping that process.

Q) Are we going to see just your banners and stop other people from trying to generate some bussiness?

A) NO, I undersatand the reason for advertising, But the diversity of whats being offered is rather low, I will not aquire all slots!

Q) your going to make from this?

A) again, NO, I am quite happy if you want transparency, If someone does make a large donation, It will simply be used over the comming months to aquire some slots, I will be donating myself.

Please note that you can donate directly to this site, I encourage this, Especially if you feel ill about this effort, I am just running this because I hate adverts, If I cant beat them, I will join them.

Color me confused but.... you're going to acquire advert slots to filter out unnecessary adverts?  What will your advert slots say?  How will this help you filter out unnecessary adverts?  Why wouldn't your own adverts be considered unnecessary.

And finally, if you consider a tiny bit of text at the top of the page in 10 point font to be so bothersome that you feel you have to create a donation pool against it, well, I feel sorry for you man.  You must go through life hating everything around you, since just about all of it is inundated with more advertising than is seen on this forum.

Remove adverts easily:
1. Profile
2. Look & Layout Preferences
3. Change Theme
4. Use SMF Core default theme

Note: links won't work to prevent malicious attacks.

Your post seems confusing.  You ask if people hate advertisements and you are looking to get donations to have them removed but then you also indicate you will allow others to advertise?

While there may be some value in allowing more slots the reality is that the amount of traffic really doesn't warrant it.
Click through rates are low ~0.50% and that means each slot is maybe worth ~100 hits  per day.  Now if you create a pool and subdivide that (say avg member has a 1/10th share) you are talking about maybe 10 hits per day.

The admins run the ads manually.  The auction, payments, ad submission, review, and integration are all done by a person.  There is no tecnical reason why the site can't have 80 slots instead of 8 but it would mean 8x the manual work and the revenue doesn't really warrant any automated system (at this point).

So they should have an Operation Fabulous ad banner instead!  Cheesy

The adverts you show should ask people to donate so that they do not need to see advertisements.

Make the text blink in and out so that they see it and donate.

First seastead company actually selling sea homes: Ocean Builders https://ocean.builders  Of course we accept bitcoin.
