I am considering selling one of my collection of swords. This sword is the real deal (not a wall hanger display piece). It's hand forged, made from high carbon steel, clay tempered (differentially hardened) and sharp as a razor.
I study Iaido, one of the Japanese Sword arts. These swords were among some of the most popular in the community a couple years back. They are very strong, and actually meant for martial arts use, they are not toys or display pieces.
I'm selling one of my collection, which has the following specifications: 2.45 Shaku blade length No Hi, (no groove in the blade). This sword is meant for powerful cutting. Clay Tempered Natural Hamon (temper line) Blackened Iron Tsuba in cyclone pattern Black Synthetic Silk Tsuka Ito, (handle wrap) Real black same wrap (real stingray skin leather wrap under the silk wrap) Silver Dragon menuki (palm swell decorations) Black fuchi/gashira (fittings on the handle) Black saya with matte/textured finish Black Sageo Full length forged Nakago (tang) with double bamboo mekugi (peg) (not welded on rod like wallhangers) This sword is high carbon steel, not stainless. It's meant to be used, and traditional material. High carbon steel does require regular maintenance/treatment to prevent rust.
I'll post pictures of the sword if there is any interest, right now I'm just gauging if there is any interest at all. I'm not really keen on selling it to be honest, but I can really use the extra cash. If there is interest, I'll discuss selling it with the interested buyer. If no interest, that's fine too, I'll just hang onto it.
Asking price is 50BTC, plus buyer would pay full shipping anywhere in the world. I HIGHLY reccomend insurance. It's a valuable item, and because of it's awkward size, it's a pain to ship. Shipping won't be super cheap, minimum 5BTC to ship, max I've seen to some "difficult" countries has been as high as 30BTC to ship (because of customs regulations, difficult package dimensions and so on).
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask, I know quite a bit about this particular sword.
This sword is lightly used, I have done only very little Tameshigiri with it (test cutting) the blade is prestine, and it's in excellent condition. It's been well maintained on my sword rack with the rest of my collection for the past several years.
Note this is NOT a papered Japanese sword (ie not manufactured in Japan). Their manufacture, and sale in Japan is heavily regulated, and only certain smiths can produce them. Papered japanese shinken cost MUCH more than this. This is made in China (as 90% of the ones used in circulation are made these days) using traditional Japanese techniques. This sword is of the highest quality out there intended for martial arts use. (It's been reviewed and endorsed by some of the highest ranking Iaido Sensei in Canada)
Anyway, let me know if you're interested
One last thing, I'll want some kind of assurance (scan of identification or something) to show that you're not under the age of 18. I won't sell this to a minor, as in many countries it's classified as a weapon. (and regardless of classification it's extremely dangerous).
Thanks!
