That is correct. You wear signature of some company. It works like an ad banner.
There are two types of signature campaigns: campaigns with fixed rate (example: you will get 0.1 BTC for 50 posts/month) and pay per post campaigns where you will earn BTC for every post you write.

As a newbie, He could even use the website field of its' own profile to put a referral link there to increase earnings. e.g. if he would enroll in the 777Coin Signature Campaign he could add his referral link and a text like; Advertisement: 777Coin - The Exciting Bitcoin Casino! simple explanation for you :
You have signature space on your ID, placed on bottom of your post. So if you make every single post, the signature will appear bottom of it.
The signature feature added when your level is up, currently you are newbie, there are more level like : Jr.member, member, full member, sr.member, Hero member and legendary.
And signature campaign is a paid campaign from 3rd party company (not official from bitcointalk forum) to borrow/rent your signature space to place their advertisement.
You get payment based on your contract with them, usually pay per post (like 0.0013 BTC / post for a month) or fixed payment for particular post, example get paid 0.08 BTC for 30 post in two weeks.
There are some requirements for campaigner, like minimum level, minimum activity, minimum post and etc. And there are so many rules too, you can check every campaign because they are different for every campaign.

A company makes you wear its signature for advertisement and you get paid for every post,weekly,monthly etc according to which company's campaign you are wearing! You cant get enrolled in a high paying campaign until you reach full member status so increase your activity and rank to "Full Member"! Good luck

Basically you put a company ad in your signature (only more senior members like full member have the space to do good ads though) and they pay you either per post or a fixed rate. It is a good way to get money as a beginner and get into the bitcoin world, and also a good way for companies to advertise and get a larger presence.

signature compaign is nothing but advertisers buys members signature space for advertising their sites and they pays for numbers of posts. High level members will receive more money.

Basically the best offer for "free" money you can have without investing real money in to it, you advertise some one else product on you signature on the forum and they pay you the more posts you make (more visibility to their ad), depending on your rank the signature can be more complex with more colors or characters and so on, so they pay you more the higher your rank is.

Be careful with wearing a signature.  Make sure it is a substantial post that adds something.  The one I quoted is a good example of one that could possibly get you in trouble.  If you do a one line answer that does not add much mod's do not like that. Some even get banned for it.

The short version is you wear a ad on your "signature" which means at bottom of each post you do it shows this ad.  You will earn a little btc for something you would have done anyways.  So when done properly it benefits signature campaign, and person using it.
