Hello,

I am selling a brand new iphone 5s 32GB. It is locked to O2 network and is barred in UK. No unlock for it yet but anyone who know the market should see the value because the service might come back to life any day. ready to ship and use escrow. Send me PM with offers. Only reasonable people. Much appreciated.

How can it be brand new yet barred from the UK?
Phones only get barred when they're stolen or lost and the owner contacts the carrier to do so.

Yeah, if it's barred then it wont magically get unlocked for no reason. All you currently have is an expensive paperweight. Maybe posts some pics of it though as you definitely wont get any interest without some time-stamped ones.

Exactly! There's something very shady about this.

How do they work? If it's something simple shouldn't you just hold on to the phone and unlock it yourself? If the phone is blocked or locked then doesn't that mean there's a good chance it is reported stolen?

"Brand new. Opened to check."

I honestly never find out, why is somebody so stupid and opening sealed boxes? because of what? check the smell of new fancy iphone? check if is really inside? because on my experience, it is just lowering the value in majority of cases..

Well, whenever you get stuff from people on Gumtree/Craiglist/ebay, you open it to make sure that its not really a brick inside. I have seen similiar scams in sealed boxes. Cant really blame OP here about opening the box, but description could be "New, mint, open box" or something like that.

Barred in UK. Works in any other country. Unlock is not available for the phone now but it should be in the near future. To be honest i was waiting for the unlock to be available again for two weeks. O2 premium service for iphone 5s is down and noone know when it will be back. Thats why im selling the phone and asking people to send me their best offers. We do escrow i dont see any problem for anyone.

OK, what is the reason that got it barred in the UK?
You didn't mention that or at least I didn't see it.

Probably claimed as lost or stolen. I buy phones from many people and i sell them. One from ten gets barred. I don't ask where they come from. Maybe someone just sold it and said to their insurance company they lost it so they blocked the original phone and gave a new one to them.

At least you're honest.

As far as I know you can't get a blocked iPhone unblocked in the UK once its been reported as lost or stolen because the IMEI number goes on a barred database with all carriers.

It's then virtually impossible to get it unbarred unless you're the 'original owner' and have found your lost or stolen phone.

An attitude like that won't get you any customers. People are raising legit concerns and questions, yet you decide to ignore them.

Long story short.

I bought this phone from op.

The phone is blocked not only in UK but at my place to.

The phone is at my place not at OP.

The price of the phone is still in escrow, and no solution for the problem for approx. 2 months.

I remember now but that was an iPhone 6: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1003549.0

If I were you I'd get your money back because there is no way you will ever get it unblocked.

There was a misread in the other thread, I think me and hiphiphurray are missed it.

It's an 5s and not a 6. I'll delete my post from the the other thread, sorry for that.

Because he wants me to ship the phone to the other buyer...... (I won't do that.)

He wants to do some money but I don't really understand how....

He'd like to sell the phone, want me to send to the buyer then agree to refund the escrow. Or something like this.
