If you are in windows go to C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Shell\
If you are on linux go to /home/YourUsername/.shell

Make a file named shell.conf (cAsE matters)

add these lines to your conf file

Code:
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcuser=makeup_a_username
rpcpassword=makeup_a_password
server=1
daemon=1
listen=1
staking=1
addnode=178.62.19.234:12454
addnode=85.25.198.151:12454
addnode=84.25.42.239:12454
addnode=5.45.179.149:12454
addnode=5.45.179.149:12454
addnode=148.251.41.117:12454
addnode=85.25.198.151:12454

i guess there's some issue with the code that makes it hard to initially connect.
one seednode should be enough

Yeah true, but those issues you mention show a dev who cant support his coin.  I been trying to get this to work since yesterday and am still having problems. I think its better to just give up, delete this shit and move onto another coin.

I'll give it one more day for the dev to get his shit together. Lets see what happens.

It would help non techies if the dev added a .conf file download link to the OP. Not everyone finds it easy to make a .conf file.

Shell is one of those rare coins where I've never had a single problem getting connections.  Have you checked that the problem isn't your end?

As for the "dev who can't support his own coin" needing to "get his shit together".  Look back a few posts, you are aware the dev is no longer around, right?

Since getting into Cryptocurrency I've had many bags, all but two have varied over time.  Those are the two I see in the mirror where my eyes once shone.

Is my wallet reporting the correct count of masternodes?  It states there are 22 masternodes, but my node is getting hits like there is only 5 or 6 since early this morning. I like all the extra coins I'm generating, but I'm wondering if something is awry. Huh

Hmmm, that might explain why my 4 masternodes showed such a paltry return this morning.

Well my MN got knocked offline for a few hours, early this morning while I was asleep. Wonder if there is now a new magicnode.

Staked coins generate blocks of 100 coins, 50 go to the staker and 50 to a masternode.  There are currently 25 masternodes, if you have one you have a 1/25 chance of getting 50 coins every time somebody's stake generates a block.  There are currently ~100 staked blocks per hour so you should be making around 200 coins per hour, or ~4800 per day right now.

Depositing more than 25000 has no benefit, if you have enough you can set up another masternode with another instance of the daemon with a different data directory, delete wallet.dat from the copy and change the port and rpcport in the config.  If you do deposit more than 25000 or you leave your generated coins in the masternode wallet they will become eligible for staking, if enabled.

Since getting into Cryptocurrency I've had many bags, all but two have varied over time.  Those are the two I see in the mirror where my eyes once shone.
