Bitcoin will suite their purpose very well as a currency, they should first get the telecommunication infrastructure going... on second thought.. water and electricity comes first.

Yeah, and with no army and open borders they'll likely soon run into trouble or will be unprepared for any invaders or troublemakers:

Good point.
First of all either Serbia or Croatia could not share their enthusiasm and simply remove them from the island. But if they let them be, they'll be exposed to likely attacks. Any organised 10+ group of crooks could just walk in and take whatever they want without any criminal charges (since it's independent territory).

Well an area and population so small, where is the scope of infrastructure that would hold any kind of current. I don't think it would be that helpfull.

The proponent of the idea obviously doesn't intend to move there any time soon, he's not mentioning anything about making the place habitable. I wonder if it might end up working like a sequence of Banksy photos I've seen: Banksy (supposedly) spray paints an official looking government logo with equally convincingly official font reading "Officially Designated Graffiti Zone", on an entirely graffiti-free brick wall. Guess what happens in the subsequent photos...

These things always have the right ideals at heart but they never work. If anyone wants to see what will happen watch or read The Beach. That's the best case scenario. And. Liberland? Seriously? Could they not come up with a better name?

I don't know whether they will be able to survive without an army. That particular region is infamous for organized crime cartels, which specialize in trafficking immigrants to the European Union, as well as those involved in drug smuggling. It won't be a bad idea to have a few hundred strong border guards force, just to keep the unwanted elements away.

None. Their own founder just got arrested for trespassing so it doesn't look like this is going to go ahead any time soon. I;m sure it was more a publicity stunt than anything.
