LOL if you want to buy something you have to exchange someting. When you exchange bitcoin how would the seller agree if there is no value?

If you see garbage posts (off-topic, trolling, spam, no point, etc.), use the "report to moderator" links. All reports are investigated, though you will rarely be contacted about your reports.

those saying that the price dont matter must be lying. everybody holds bitcoin to have some value and most are investors in bitcoin. Those saying what matters is the trend, isn't that trend related to the price? to me the price matters a lot

The price doesn't matter. I'm not lying. It might matter to speculators (and people that call themselves investors), but it doesn't matter to Bitcoin.

we already had this discussion... the price indeded does matter, if you want bitcoin to be fully adopted

example, i'm talking about a very distant future, someone(big bank for example or a big business) start buying bitcoin in bank and they can afford to buy the majority of bitcoin, those bitcoin then can be used to pay directly the wage in bitcoin

then another business company need to do the same, but it can not because the other istitution already acquired all the bitcoin, because they were too cheap

now we have one entity with the monopoly of bitcoin, bitcoin sostantially need a better price to be spreaded for all people around the wolrd and it will happen naturally if you want adoption

That's right. As long as bitcoin is bought and sold for fiat its price will matter.

There have been endless discussions on this, the only thing it coms to is the fact, that are you in it for the technology or do you have money invested. If you are a person using it for sending money to another place, and only buy it at the point of the use, then it doesn't matter. But if you happen to store it for long term, then obviously it matters as you will essentially be losing money on it.

what you said is totally perfect, If I answer you no then I'll be lying. Even though my hope is for us to see 1 btc equivalent to 1 btc some day with the price of fiat mean nothing to us, the current movement of the price still gives us the indication in how well accepted btc is and its demand. I do agree with your reasoning but until the I will still closely follow the btc price movement.

Value is needed for a trade exchange.

Also the value shows growth or a decrease which give investors a speculation chance. This is mandatory for currency's competing against each other.

Of course the price of bitcoin is all that matters, the real questions then becomes what affects the price. That's what really matters.

Bitcoin price matters, everything value is calculated in FIAT currency. 'BTC to USD' will be one among the most searched keywords in google.
BTC has not evolved into a fully accepted currency. Until it becomes a worldwide accepted currency its price matters the most.

Of course the price of Bitcoin matters, if you remove the associated dollar value then the balance in your wallet whether 0.5 or 1,000,000 BTC has no meaning. I doubt even the most hardcore believer would stick around for long. What would be the point if you can't do anything with it?

The price of bitcoin becomes a concern especially those who have invested little dollars in the trading pool. You however not find the people who have invested in dollars taking into consideration the price issue. They are concerned about the worthiness and the returns when it comes to the worst case scenario. I therefore say that the whole issue is dependable on each and every individual. Personally, I will say that price will matter since it depicts the amount in temrs of profit that is expected when you sell.

Well, it really matters about what you're using your bitcoin for. If it's for:

Short-Term Investment - Price matters
Long-Term Investment - Price doesn't matter, the trend matters.
Everyday Spending - Does not really matter

But if you are a fully invested bitcoin enthusiast, price really matters, as if bitcoin crashes, youre basically homeless. No money left. Zip, Nada.

Price only matters if you hold bitcoin currently or if you are planning on buying some at the current rate.
If you don't have any in your possession why would you obsess about the price at all  Huh
It is just like watching the worth of gold on the exchanges but you don't have any.

I think price stability is an important thing. If it is too volatile a lot of main stream businesses will stay clear of it.  The best would be largely stable with a slow upwards trend.

Yes it does matter. People who say it doesn't matter are either really rich or don't know what they're talking about. How would you know when to invest into bitcoin if you don't know the fiat value?

Of course the price matters. But I'm sure it does not matter for everyone in the same extent.
The more coins you have the less increase in price you need to become wealthy, if that is what you want.
And I believe many are looking for that.
The price also matters for traders. And they love volatility. The bigger that is the more money they can make.
For libertarians this might be different. Just having an opportunity to buy and pay goods without the need of the financial incumbents and having full control of their money make them more as happy.Monetary sovereignty!

The price of bitcoin is everything. It's all that matters. Until we can get about 100M people owning BTC then we can create bitcoin-only economies where BTC vs USD won't matter and we'll solve the volatility issue once and for all.

100 million people using bitcoin can be considered mainstream adoption. as long as bitcoin is connected to fiat, the price will always matter.

The value of bitcoins does matters to each and everyone of us, Sometimes I feel that I am late into bitcoins but sometimes I feel that I entered at the right time, As when I bought my first bitcoins the value was around $220 and that suggests that I am already in profits at a moment, but yes we want bitcoins should reach $1k.
