What Sia projects need to do is to implement distributed network storage, which is a very good idea. Give full play to resource conservation, so that unused bandwidth and storage are fully utilized. SIA is more inclined to store large files, and it should be gradually popularized and applied to real life in the future

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

I find myself having a couple of hundreds of free gigabytes. It would be incredible if I could get something by lending it!

Do you guys know a way to make the windows client sync faster? Maybe I'm missing an update or maybe I can make it accept more connections? I don't open my wallet that often but let it sync every now and then.
I have the same thing, takes really..... really long to sync The initial sync of the blockchain takes very long if you are using a HDD. On a SSD it takes less than 8 hours. You can greatly accelerate the process by manually downloading an updated image of the blockchain (AKA bootstrapping). Check the instructions here: https://siawiki.tech/daemon/bootstrapping_the_blockchain

Distributed storage is great, and the planning and design concept of this project is pretty good. Read the technical roadmap, see the market space, optimistic about the development team of investors can see, buy a batch of buried, etc. it brings you bright spots

The server is on centos7
Obtain minimum of 200 Siacoins from exchange > Download SIA UI on the server (This is your wallet as well). For centos, I think there is another package that you can download > Transfer the Siacoins to SIA UI wallet (These coins will be used as security) > Add folders (HDD space) for hosting/renting > Form contract and specify the Siacoins that you wish to put up as collateral (this to ensure you leave your server running and HDD Space is available) and your charge. Now wait for the contract to complete and earn SIA.

When you rent out disk space using SIA, do you need to open any ports on a router to the server you are hosting it on? And also how many SIA do you need to have in the wallet, will having more result in better payment or trustworthiness to others? Like a rating/positive review system?

What exactly is difference from cloud applications like dropbox iCloud? decentralized systems have recently become fashionable. but how much the projects can be implemented.

Yes, you need to port-forward the ports 9981 and 9982 in your router and allow their traffic in the firewall of your hosting computer. The minimal collateral budget required is 2000SC, but if you plan to host large amounts of data you will need much, much more. You select your own pricing, including the collateral per TB per month you offer as a guarantee you will keep the files during all the time with the required uptime. The more collateral, the better score (and so more chances to be selected as a host by a renter). How to i can rent strorage from my wallet! I try many times but can not finish!
Check this guide if you want to be a host (offer your disks): https://siawiki.tech/host/using_the_ui_for_hostingor this other one if you want to be a renter (pay for saving your data on the Sia cloud): https://siawiki.tech/renter/using_the_ui_for_rentingWhat exactly is difference from cloud applications like dropbox iCloud? decentralized systems have recently become fashionable. but how much the projects can be implemented.
Excellent point of view! I also saw some guys in the topic asked about real-life services which has been used from Sia project. Have you ever used them? At some point I had almost 1TB of data stored on the Sia network. I am also a host, so receiving compensation for offering storage. There is a ranking of renters that voluntarily decide to share their logs of used space to compete to be the top uploader: https://rankings.sia.tech/ So as you see real people is using Sia. Also check the usage of the network https://siastats.info/hosts_network.html (105 TB used in a network of almost 3500 TB) and this map of the host's network: So as you can see, Sia is already a working product with a working network (and it has been working for more than 2 years).

Best move during altcoin bleeding is to catch some cheap and sell when the market will be on increase again. Selling is like making someone favor to take your coins at best advantageous price. I will buy more rather than liquidating at this phase specilly.

Nearing 1000 hosts ! A big thank you to all the hosts who are part of sia network. Though there is not much earning or incentives as of know, I guess you guys believe in the project long term. Also, I Think 1000 hosts milestone should be marketed well.
