A court in Ekaterinburg, Russia has effectively lifted the ban to Bitcoin-related websites blocked in January by authorities. The Sverdlovsk Oblast court has accepted the appeal of the blocked sites and dismissed the demands of the prosecutor’s office to leave the ban in place.

Very great news for cryptos!

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Do not get too happy too quickly, " Note: According to our Russian sources, all of the above listed websites were still inaccessible at the time of writing."

They say one thing and do completely the opposite.  Angry

Once it takes off, things might change for them, but for now 80% of Russians do not know what Bitcoin is :

One thing is certain, Russia is building a huge military and they are probing NATO Airspace for some time now.

If they plan to start WWIII none of this would be relevant anyways... We would all be dead.  Shocked

Perhaps after this, we can have the first Bitcoin ATM in Russia.  Grin

Russia had one of the highest Bitcoiner population in 2010 and 2011, but the interest there gradually waned, partially as a result of the hostile actions from the central government. Many of the Bitcoin-related businesses also moved away to other nations. I hope that after this ruling, most of those ventures will return to Russia.
