I agree with you. If you whine about a free giveaway, something is likely to be wrong with you. OP has the right to choose whoever he wants to choose and doesn't need to live up to some people's expectations. In fact, I would just add the following to the OP and be done with it:
"I'll pick a winner in a manner I decide. This won't be 'fair'. Don't like it? Don't participate."
