Monera
Private CryptoNight cryptocurrency with ASIC support

Monera is a privacy-focused cryptocurrency based on Monero with support for ASICs.
Monero + ASICs = Monera

Website: https://monera.network/

Introduction

Monero recently hardforked to CryptonightV7 as a reaction to the announcement of ASIC Cryptonight mining hardware. The Monero Team has made it clear that they will continually fork to new algorithms as they new ASICs get developed. Many members of the Monero family aren’t convinced that this is at all productive as specialised hardware development is inevitable and having ASIC Support is actually desirable.

Why Support ASICs?

1. It’s unproductive to resist them

Following on from above, Constantly forking to stop ASICs takes up a HUGE amounts of resources and development time. It also attempts to stop innovation in the cryptocurrency space which goes against the open source and open minded approach of the community

2. Potentially Equal or Less Centralization

This may seem counterintuitive at first. However, since moneros fork the networks nethash rate has halved - back at the levels seen in December 2017. Not even taking into account the new GPU miners joining the network since then, consider where this hashrate has come from. A lot of the increase in hashrate can be attributed to ASICs pre sale/announcement. This means that a single ASIC development company had up to half the network power - which is undoubtedly centralised.

Once the Announcement and Sale of these ASICs started, Monero announced they would switch. This can only promote companies to develop ASICs WITHOUT the intention of announcing and distributing. It's only a matter of time before CyrptonightV7 ASICs are developed only this time they won't be intended for sale.

ASICs miners should be allowed to be decentralised without risk the Cryptocurrency development team making them obsolete

3. Increased Network Hashing power

This results in a more secure network (Increasingly harder to carry out a 51% attack) and will decrease the rate at which orphaned blocks are created as the probability that two miners find the solution at the same time is significantly less

This also results in a much lower likelihood of botnet attacks.

4. Better for the environment

A criticism of Cryptocurrencies - specifically Proof of Work - is the high amount power usage that some would describe as wastage. ASICs use significantly less power than GPU and CPUs and if innovation and improvements are encouraged this will only improve.

Continuing to force GPU mining is akin to using the wrong tool for the job when the correct one is within reach.

5. Reduce strain on the GPU market

Nvidia and gamers alike have made their position on GPU mining clear. There has been a massive strain on the market causing prices to hike because of mining that could be completely eliminated.

Compare an ASIC mining farm to a Vega 64 mining farm:

Vegas are a great example as they are very efficient at mining Cryptonight coins at around 2kHs. In a way, they are like a Mini ASIC. If an ASIC farm outputs the same hashrate, what's actually the difference? The ASIC farm would be cheaper, Take up significantly less space (Current Cryptonight ASICs mine at 10x the rate of Vegas) and use significantly less power.

ICO Information

Why do an ICO?

One of the main criticisms of supporting ASICs is how it's unfair for regular miners to be able to receive any coins. This coupled with the large dormant mining power of the Cryptonight ASICs its likely to result in a competitive network from day one.

An ICO is an effective way to distribute coins to the community with the added bonus of funding the project to hit the ground running.

Our biggest concern with other Monero forks born out of this CyrptonightV7 change, aside from showing almost no promise, is because they inherit the Monero blockchain. This means that the team behind has no funding or any coins. This is a recipe for disaster as team without any funding or vested interest in the project’s success is destined for failure.

No other Monero Fork born out of the V7 fork has the confidence of the Monera team members which is the fundamental reason for the genesis of Monera.

ICO Prices:

We believe in offering Monera at a low initial price for the ICO ranging from 0.41% up to 1.66% of Moneros current price. (Based on Monero @ 0.02439024 BTC)

When will the ICO start?

There is a countdown timer on our website: https://monera.network/
Follow twitter for updates: https://twitter.com/MoneraCurrencyy

How many coins will be for sale?

Only the first 1 Million coins will be released (5.4% of total supply before tail emission)
A further 250,000 coins will be held for ongoing development fund and will not be sold.

Supply/Emission Information

Coin symbol: XMA
Total supply: 18,400,000 coins before tail emission
Hash algorithm: CryptoNight
Block time: 120 seconds

Mining information/Network Start

We are aiming to release the network publicly for miners 7 days after the ICO sale has completed. All pools will be listed below:

TBA

Monera VS Monero

Because Monera doesn’t inherit the Monero blockchain, the security flaws associated with the early Monero blocks and other previous forks are completely eliminated and will be starting fresh.

Minimum Ring Size bumped up to 14 from 7 for added security.
Fees are adjusted to compensate.

Monera will inherit the latest Zawy difficulty algorithm to eliminate difficulty attacks and react much faster than Moneros and provide security around the latest time warping attacks on Cryptonight coins.

2018 Roadmap

WTF is this bullshit. GTFO here with your ASIC crap. The whole point of cryptocurrencies is to be decentralized. Fuck off with your ASIC centralization BS. You bought urself a spaceheater (trying to outdo everyone else) knowing very well, now deal with it.

The enviromental thing is bullshit. ASICS = higher dif which = more ASICS. It's a cycle. There's a reason BTC ASICs consume more elctricity by far compared to any GPU mineable coin.

I like crypto
