The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

Thanks. Actually I put the hash of the genesis block in the code,with hash of merkleroot, is that enough? Or I should also mine the genesis block and true my genesis piece of code from false to true? Thanks

They wont sync until you mine blocks. If you have made the client correctly, the first time it starts it will mine the genesis block and post the hash in the debug file.
