[...] So a hacked BTC account is signing a message by reference to a hacked BTC account message?

His github message is signed by an LTC address that is linked in a bitcointalk quote. Since the quote itself can't be modified by the current holder of the vertoe account, it is reasonable proof of her identity. In short: the message was posted by someone that holds control of: vertoe's github account + vertoe's prior known LTC keys.

If the statement holds true and represents vertoe's take on CACHE going forward, I am thoroughly surprised by the total lack of character/morals. Oh well, just another day in Altcoin land I suppose.  Sad

Can't find those messages.

I'd like to see a signed pgp message.

@Coins101:

Actually, the LTC reference address is not in a quote, it is a direct link to a post (which has so far not been modified though).
Edit: I confirmed the address and contents of the linked post, and it is an exact copy of an identical post on Litecointalk.

For future reference, this is the claimed signer LTC address:
Code:
Lafri18H6eUurUT5eg4xeTuRcepPfPgojC

This is the message:
Code:
-----BEGIN LTC SIGNED MESSAGE-----
i'm vertoe and no longer able to access my bitcointalk account - verify this message with the litecoin address found in this post ?topic=441215.msg4847316 - the last post written by me is ?topic=400389.msg11381772 - yes, i never wanted cachecoin 2.0 and allowed the extended cachecoin team to use my account - i couldn't stand the pressure of investors sending me daily half a dozen pms on all channels - screw the altcoin scene - i'm out anyways - and kal, sorry for breaking your coin while trying to rescue it. farewell.
-----END LTC SIGNED MESSAGE-----

And this is the signature:
Code:

Difficulty
If you wish to manually control your pseudo-share difficulty outside of the range provided by the dynamic system you can do the following:
Code:
Cachecoin Address+0.00000116 x Hash Rate in KHash

For example for my R9 270x I use:
Code:
700 x 0.00000116 = 0.000812
CP8qRQAESbU6CqJvsjh2tCSZWLQnhQd3n3+0.000812

The following are suggested targets for various hash rates if you want to grab one quickly:

KHash/sDifficulty
50+0.00005821
100+0.00011641
250+0.00029103
500+0.00058207
750+0.00087310
1000+0.00116414

IRC
Find @donschoe on freenode to have a chat! :-)

Please note
  • P2Pool payments can take up to 24 hours to ramp up after you start mining, please wait this long before seeking assistance
  • Payouts require that you solve at least one share of difficulty greater than the P2Pool share target per day.
  • Decreasing intensity can help your stale rates massively, and will improve your payouts in most cases.
  • You will notice an increased stale rate in your miner compared to a traditional pool, this is normal and expected behaviour for P2Pool (~5-10%)

Credits
  • P2Pool for CACH by Sykh, thanks so much!
  • P2Pool custom frontend by Turix, I really love it. Check out his pool: http://sleipnir.syari.net/pool/
  • P2Pool VTC code adjustments by bengtåke, thanks mate.

The Vertoe post does contain that LTC address @ 2014.

If Vertoe has gone for good, that is still not 100%, then I'd like to know if Cache would still be interested on working towards a P2P exchange for alts.

It is something I very briefly exchanged thoughts about with Vertoe around a few days after he started working on Cache. He was open to looking into the idea, after getting something tangible going for Cache.

This is the overview of the project I put together in May:

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/19djUkzO04BhgKrh4VURFC55bI8zvo8qspSmWhJPuXrY/edit#slide=id.g9d55834ca_0_45

There are some things in there that might not work, but its an outline that was intended to serve as a starting point.

Vertoe's account wasn't hacked, he put it up for sale, and from Vertoe's Github entry I guess it's been sold now.  Start at coins101's post about donschoe.

You're kind of dreaming... Someone else may come in and fix/implement all the stuff, but this coin is going to be seriously fubar unless someone takes a serious look at fixing it before block 100,000....

I hope so. At a certain point, the people who get scammed aren't victims of someone else, but victims of themselves.

@Thirtybird,

To keep the chain/coin on life support, it would suffice to have all clients/nodes/pools/exchanges, revert back to the pre-takeover codebase last published by Kalgecin, right? I'm not saying that's good or bad, just wondering if that would be enough to at least prevent an abrupt end to cache.

I have no stake here. I do have some fondness over the original coin specifications and it was one of the first coins I ever mined, so for whatever reason, I still keep an eye on it. If the community wants to keep it alive, I'll be available to help on a legitimate and transparent takeover effort.

I would encourage any stakeholders to speak up ... right ... about ... now!  Cheesy

he NEVER scammed anybody !
he made very clear from the beginning that he will look into this but will and can NOT promise (long term) anything !
so he is out , but that has nothing to do with a scam !
(not that i am involved in this, i just want to make clear that vertoe always was stand up guy and had whatever reasons to move on)

Good to know he/she still has people trying to defend him
simple fact is Vertoe used what reputation he/she had to unload the bag of cache coin he/she was holding thats all!
i dont call ppl scammers and post on BCT with red letters but maybe i should this time
So many ways Vertoe could have contacted or communicated with   investors in this coin
the way he/she got the word out by "my account hacked...." it simply show what kind of morals  this person has and its very disappointing

Vertoe's reputation is forever tainted and next coin he/she works on will show what people think
