I just got my first bitcoin. I sent a small ammount to electrum wallet. Now I want to send from this wallet and it asks me for a password. I never set up a password with electrum. WTF? I am glad I just sent a small fraction for my first attempt. Can anyone help?

Use the section DannyHamilton pointed to.
Actually, as far as I know, Electrum always requires to type in a wallet password on first start. It may well be that you not realized this and you typed in an arbitrary seed. Happend to me on the first time of usage of Electrum.
