Wait, there is a hard fork happening. Where?
Hard fork might not happen eventually. There are lots of ifs and buts. Here is what Gavin said:
http://sourceforge.net/p/bitcoin/mailman/message/34155307/After 50% of the network running XT, if the core dev team agrees that a blocksize cap raising is rational, then only a soft fork will do, i.e. a simple upgrade to bitcoin core, which happens many times in every year.
If the core dev team can not come to a consensus, then Gavin will wait till 90% of the network runs on XT. Once that happens, he'll go for a hard fork and that is planned after February 2016.
If nodes do not switch over to XT, nothing will happen.
Personally, I want to see a hard fork. Because 2016 will also bring in block halving. And after last block halving at the end of 2012 and
a hard fork at the beginning of 2013, price went to the moon at the end of 2013
