I now see the code is only good for the old generation of cryptonotefoundation/cryptonote based currencies. Your coin is unsupported unfortunately. If there is more interest I will add support for it in the future.

Big update to http://forknote.net was made. The design is changed completely, a lot of guides and documentation were added. The configuration file creation form has a reduced number of inputs and better charts for your future coin.

Another big update is the inclusion of OneEvilCoin and Ethanolium in the binaries package.

We have a configuration for QCN already. The real problem is to convince and coordinate all the existing pools and users to move to Forknote, since this will require a hardfork.

QCN is an abandoned cryptonote note, it has no dev and needs improvement, its ideal for testing if forknote could take over the network, how much of the hashrate is necessary?

Isn't this what Waves and other multimillion projects all about? The positive thing about this project is your token does not require any parent blockchain.
The downside is, without parent blockchain, it is extremely hard to fund it. Some may say there is a security issue with making separate blockchain for every token, but our initial goal is not multimillion valued tokens, but small tokens for now, which makes no economic sense to be attacked

Forknote is not equal XCP. The idea is create (and link in future) independent blockchains. There are no fees. You can create as much blockchains as you want. There is no parent blockchain. The only chain with special status is Bytecoin, because it is the developer blockchain, but we work hard to make Forknote dual core (more than 1 developer chain)

If you just want to create a token, you don't need to learn any programming language. Just choose the parameters you want, decide if you want premine, and you are good to go.
On your other question - you must take care of your blockchain. A 5$ VPS usually does the work. In fact, nodes of multiple blockchains can be ran on a 5$ VPS, which can drive the price of a running node way bellow 5$/month.
Also, you can run a node on your local PC, if you don't need the network to be online all the time

can I use forknote with fantomcoin? Are there plans to bring it to the new BCN 2.0 code base (RocksDB), its a shame they didn't went with Monero LMDB buts its better than the previous version.

We are working on Forknote based on BCN 2.0. Currently it works good, except the block explorer part.
Fantomcoin support is one of our potential goals, but there is no schedule for it. We may realise it, but we may not. If you or someone else understand how Fantomcoin works you can help us bring it faster to the project.

You can use http://forknote.net/create/#/  to create a config for a new blockchain. There is no step by step guide for the moment.

The update is not required, but it's comparable to the LMDB update of Monero (if you are familiar with it).
You will get much mess ram usage and a lot faster network sync. It can sync to the Bytecoin network from 0 for less than 3 hours, and most of the smaller networks take just a few minutes to sync

Yes. The miner is not in the daemon anymore. You need to use 'miner' included in the binaries.

Sorry if I offended you. It's kind of impossible to understand user's level from 1-2 posts.

You don't need --config-file for 'miner'.
A possible explanation for the 'Levin signature mismatch' WARNING is you are trying to mine on the P2P port, instead of the RPC port

Here is the actual setup I use to mine a few test blocks on BitCoal (I use it as testnet usually, because it has small blockchain, stable hashrate and the hashrate is low). It's on macOS,  FN v2.0.1:

There are some minor changes.

You no longer need this line:

You can export the keys using the 'export' command in simplewallet. 
To use the simplewallet import, you must have both your secret spend and view keys. To import just open simplewallet and press 'i'. Then follow the dialog.

i have to ask...
We need a forknote pool that can support merged mining on stratum...theres none  out there to merged with fcn....
only minergate....always and only minergate....thats a monopoly in cryptonote...
if you want to merged mine you have to use minergate pool ;(
with theres lack of support or even dont care for miners...

please forknote work on that...gives a node merged mining pool so we can change this

The wallet file is compatible. You must update simplewallet to use the new version tho. If you have backups of the wallets you have nothing to worry about.

What i do on democats is just stopping daemon + simplewallet, then replace with the new version and start them again. It works fine 95% of the time.
Sometime something goes wrong with simplewallet and it corrupts the wallet on exit. In such case you must replace the wallet file with the  *.tmp file and that's it.

PS: you can delete the old blockchain, since from Forknote v2 we use rocksdb and the old blockchain is not compatible

If anyone wants to check any Forknote supported chain for double spending - just delete the checkpoints in your config file, delete the blockchain and sync from block 0. You need the latest Forknote version to check.

Tx verification failed  -  someone trying to send invalid transaction and your node is not including it into the transaction pool

I got the same error on Ubuntu 16.10. Here is a work around before it's fixed:

You don't need to compile to create a network. You don't need to wonder how you will integrate security fixes, as long as they are fixed in Bytecoin/Forknote.

The more disturbing issue is the hashrate required, but i think we will be able to overcome this with merged mining (and POS eventually).

You can run as many as you like. You just must have different p2p and rpc ports on all configs

How to get the first Genesis block reward?
I have configured (Percentage of premined coins) 10% but when mining it was unsuccessful.

Hi All!

I could really use some help here... I've been trying for days to generate a correct genesis block reward for a new blockchain without much success...

I can generate the GENESIS_COINBASE_TX_HEX and I include it in the config file. I can also mine the first block in the wallet which I've set to print the genesis block.

However, when I try to transfer any amount from this wallet I get Transaction ........ is not valid. Reason: Transaction has input with invalid signature and TX verification failed. The amount never gets out of the local pool, to other nodes or daemons.
If I restart the daemon and reset the wallets the amount is unlocked and I can see it again in available balance but it never reaches the destination wallet.

Also, there seems to be another problem with the transactions. If I have a wallet (not the genesis block wallet) into which I have mined a n amount of coins, whenever I make a transaction to another wallet, the daemons throw a warning:
Transaction ....... is not valid. Reason: Transaction uses spent key image. However... the transaction goes through in the end and the receiving wallet actually receives the coins.

If anyone could help with this, I would really appreciate it.

Running pool for Quazarcoin and Bikercoin (both forknote based) when pool tries to send rewards to miners, 9 o 10 times it says "internal node error" on forknote-pool, and in daemon log it says "transactions uses spent key images"

We are having problems, I can say we have three issues Cheesy Undecided:

1st one:

Running pool for Quazarcoin and Bikercoin (both forknote based) when pool tries to send rewards to miners, 9 o 10 times it says "internal node error" on forknote-pool, and in daemon log it says "transactions uses spent key images"

On node:

Maybe it's related to "3rd one"

After delete the whole blockchain and sync again. All the coins showed up.

2nd one:
Quazarcoin always crushes with segmentation fault (compiled from source or binaries downloaded). Both for Linux.
At first, I thought it was because of memory lack; however I ran daemons on a server with 16 GB and same happens.
Am I missing something?

Yes.
I use the bikercoin.conf in configs repo (exactly the same)
The same applies for quazarcoin.conf.
Both deleted the BC and re sync.

I realized that several news cryptocurrencies doesn't have the parameters you've just added to forknote's software.

If a new crypto is launched (from block height 0) without
MANDATORY_MIXIN_BLOCK_VERSION:   Enforce minimum mixin MIN_MIXIN on blockchain level, after block with major version bigger than [this value]
MIN_MIXIN:   minimum mixin amount. Not enforced by default on blockchain level
MIXIN_START_HEIGHT:    minimum block height of the used outputs for mixin

but they run forknoted 2.1.1 or later; are they fixed for doubble spending? or there must be mandatory to use those options?.

I am running forknote-pool and it supposed to have 1000 coins, how ever I only have 28.
When I looked up into the pool wallet I found lots of

This is the pool wallet.


It only happens with a few crypto but no for everyone.
Earlier in this thread: bikercoin (config file from forknote's repos) as well as quazarcoin. and also the config file provided in this post.

Let's suppose it is no doubble spending safety, if so I think it might be corrected by modifying the config file as:
MIN_MIXIN=1
MIXIN_START_HEIGHT=30
MANDATORY_MIXIN_BLOCK_VERSION=2

Of course all of the node must be re ran with the modified config file and, once again, if so, the blockchain get well and coins that has been lost by the doubble spending, are recovered?.

Today I test mined your chain and able to Find blocks, unlock mined money in 20 blocks, transfer coins to 2nd wallet created, receive coins successfully to 2nd wallet and unlock received coins in 2nd wallet.
All appears to be fine atm. a
regarding Tx verification failed - error
that is message daemon usually send on connection timeout when write to server.  use set_log 4 for more details.

If your are having issues I'd suggest delete USER%AppData%Roaming tropicohedge folder resync but add checkpoints to you config file

Hello, i'm currently starting to create my own crypto currency based on cryptonote.
 
i've follwed theses tutorials in this order:
- https://github.com/forknote/cryptonote-generator (I've generated TX HEX directly with the generator on this page : http://forknote.net/create/#/ because it doesnt work with '--print-genesis-tx'

But i've got some issues

When I try to create my config file in "fornote" folder's (cat >configs/fakecoin.conf) I havent config folder's with a file like mycoin.conf, every config files i've found wasnt in .conf but in .json

Hi guys,

There is a big issue with one of the essential parameters (UPGRADE_HEIGHT_V2) for coins launched with v2.1.1. The issues is easily fixable with small change in the config file of your coin and migrating to v2.1.2. If some of you have production coin affected by this issue, please send me a private message.

Also, creating a premined forknote coin takes literally 2 minutes and launching a pool + block explorer takes literally 5 minutes, if done by hand. If you want to put any money on Forknote based ICOs do it on your own risk.

Can you please explain how the import works and why the balance of my imported address is not in the new created 'imported' wallet.

It's the hash that is linked to that block. So checkpoint=50000:rfqer5f4rer65e4qv5qe453er41qv31qer2vqeqerv1r3v2q13
Meaning block 50000 has hash rfqer5f4rer65e4qv5qe453er41qv31qer2vqeqerv1r3v2q13. It shoudl make the synchronisation faster but I don't see the performance gain.

I am attempting to create a Forknote, but keep running into Errors. So at first I did not realize that the Blockchain and Seednode tutorials existed, as I started with the Cryptonote guides, then started using the Forknote Generator, but now I have found those guides.

I've setup 2 nodes with premine that are running and in sync. Whenever I try to access one of the premine addresses, I get this, and the wallet freezes, notice the "help" and "exit" commands. When creating a new wallet it works without any errors but still freezes.

Forknote seems to work fine, however if there is only one node running I've noticed it never says "ERROR   Failed to connect to any of seed peers, continuing without seeds" it just waits for a connection. Help would be appreciated.

Could you tell me what I'm doing wrong? These are the steps I've taken so far.

Step 1: I have 2 VPS's one is ubuntu 16.04 and one is 16.10. Both have Forknote .tar.gz downloaded and extracted.

Step 2: On my personal computer (ubuntu 16.04),I used http://forknote.net/create/ to create a premine coin1.config file. This coin1.conf file does not have any wallet addresses, but includes the genesis tx hex created by the "Create Cryptonote blockchain" form.

Step 3: Before creating the blockchain, I create the premine wallet addresses using the coin1.conf file created in step 2. I use the "Creating simplewallet addresses" instructions from here: http://forknote.net/guides/setup-private-blockchain/

Step 4: I create a new coin2.conf file, using the Forknote form http://forknote.net/create/, this includes the addresses created in step 3 and a new genesis tx hex created by the "Create Cryptonote blockchain" form.

Step 5: I setup both nodes using coin2.conf following the steps here: http://forknote.net/guides/starting-seed-node/

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. When creating a premine coin, you need to create the .conf file first in order to create the wallet for the premine coins, but to create the wallet you need the .conf file. Do I leave the "Addresses for the premined coins" blank to create the addresses, then fill in for printing the genesis trans hex?

It seems you are trying to open a wallet that it is not built for that block chain or at least it was built from  an older one.
If you have the private and spend keys, you may try to import the wallet with a new one name.
If you do so, compare the addresses generated before with this last one. It should be the same, if not!, then you have a problem

We are working hard on the wallet you are looking for. One thing is not clear to me.
When getting the Spend keys from the walletd for a specific address and importing them in simplewallet no balance is shown and the address created by the wallet is different as well.

I'm a little stuck here, would like to offer people to create a paper wallet somehow, but if this doesn't work, we can not offer that functionality.

Can you please explain how the import works and why the balance of my imported address is not in the new created 'imported' wallet.
