Question: Before PoA, do we need merged mining?
Merged mining is a good idea
We do not need merged mining
We need only PoA
We need both merged mining and PoA

i would suggest re-importing and when prompted to choose wallet location, choose the digitalnote wallet.dat

Dev, can you comment? (give dev time as i believe he is in a sleeping time zone)

I believe you are correct in saying this. By default it's looking toward the roaming/digitalnote directory for wallets and if its not saved over then it's just the original one that was created on first open. So considering they replace that one with the imported keys, they should be fine the next time it opens.

Hi,
First of all, i am really sorry for answers delays, we are very busy this days due to high volume of contacts with the cryptocurrency enthusiast.
all new pool owners, thank you very much for your support with the spreading XDN hashrate. Please, let me know your XDN address (via PM) for some dev donation.
I will try to answer all questions step by step, sorry for the delay in answers,  because of hard dev work with new XDN features implementation.

Much appreciate all community work with pushing XDN to a new level with adoption of payment platforms, new exchanges and markets.

Thank you.

Remember, new DigitalNote wallet is an open-source software, so you don`t need even to download a wallet from any link, you can build your own from the source code on the official XDN-project github repo https://github.com/xdn-project and be sure in safety and security, at least while building it.

Error report:

Yesterday I imported an old wallet and the balance imported was fine. Then I closed the DigitalNote Wallet 1.01-beta and reopened it and the balance was zero. I said to myself nevermind I'll reimport my old wallet when I need it.

Well next thing I also mined a few XDNs yesterday and after that closed the wallet. Today I opened the wallet again and the balance is zero.

Upon closing it says "DigitalNote is saving data".

Obviously that's not the case so what's going on here?

Can you please provide some addition information.
First i must ask if you are importing old .wallet file or old .keys file.

There is NO compatibility between old .wallet file and new .wallet file, because old wallet and new wallet = 2 different XDN clients.  Like Bitcoin has native QT and lots of other type of clients. . wallet file in case of DigitalNote contains your private key + some additional information, like your outgoing transfers, or messages transfers. Remember. XDN messages can only be decrypted by recipient, in case you as a sender will not save your outgoing messages, you can`t backup it from .keys, only from .wallet. So sender actually can only remember, but if forget, never can backup his message, while recipient can read his message (or incoming transaction) any time he can connect to blockchain, because messages are in blockchain, but encrypted with the state-of-the-art cryptography.

But .keys file contain only your private key and is and will always be cross platform and you will be able to import it in any client. You private key is all you need to operate DigitalNote.

The way to migrate across different clients is just to import your .keys file and to wait until sync.

So i ask you, if you imported your old .keys file or your old .wallet file?

Much appreciate any bug reports, remember XDN is open source and is still in Beta, it works good, but lots of thing to be done and any bug or use case report will be very useful.

How does XDN cap at 8 589 869 056 in case where large proportion of network stakes for long periods of time?

Time of the entire XDN distribution and reaching max xdn value is much closer, than 77 years, but any way we make a system architecture to be decentralized and "self-maintenance". In general the idea is to keep 150 block reward for miners forever, but still have max XDN number.
You may ask how  Huh

Oh, I am. I'm only burning my half. [throws the Chechen's cigar onto the money, setting it ablaze] All you care about is money.
Joker

Seriously, lets burn like half of a fee to reenter XDN in to the main supply. This can be started when need, miners will anyway have their Proof-of-work reward, but the idea is to go to the Proof-of-activity design to make network the most secure Proof-of-work alike solution and further more energy efficient in terms of network protection.

I "File\Open Wallet" myoldwallet, not "File\Import Key"

Here's what it did. Even if the old and new wallets are not compatible the new Client read my old wallet just fine. The balance and everything was correct. I had no new wallet, I just had the old wallet from the previous Client. After doing the "Open Wallet" command it was fine until closing the new Client.

Anyways, fast forward, I just did "Import private key" and everything is fine even after closing the Client.

Edit: WTF. After 3 times closing/opening the client the balance is zero again.

Hm. very strange behaviour, we need to investigate it more clearly. Please, do the following:

1) Take your .keys file
2) Create the new folder called like "my_xdn_wallet_folder"
3) Import .keys and give you new wallet path to "my_new_folder" and give a name to your wallet "mynewxdnwallet"
4) Wait until network sync. Verify all your outgoing transactions after full network sync. Verify your balance.
5) Close and open several times your "mynewxdnwallet" file from the "my_xdn_wallet_folder". Verify your balance.

Thank you.

Looks fine after many reopenings. I'll try the mining again. Outta here going away I'll report the situation later.

Edit: I think the crux of the problem is that once you backup the wallet it moves the link to the wallet elsewhere. In my case when I backup the wallet it thinks the wallet is now on the USB, even though there is still a wallet in the AppData\Roaming.

Hello people. I'm not sure if you know this already, so I want to make an announcement here: me, and several other people have teamed up to set up the XDN Foundation. Our goal is to combine the efforts of the community and direct them to marketing activities that will ensure the DigitalNote's widespread awareness and, ultimately, adoption. You can check our website here: http://xdnfoundation.org/

Currently the Foundation is running a fundraising campaign, which will last until Monday. Our target is to raise 50M XDN in donations, out of which we have managed to collect about 17M. I'm making daily reports on our progress in our own thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1072773

If you'd care to check the thread out, and maybe donate some spare XDN, I think it would be very great for the entire community.

Edit: If you want to join the Foundation and its cause: be sure to get in touch with Brian Gerald, the community activist who's driving the Foundation's marketing effort at brian.gerald007@gmail.com and tell him about yourself, or PM him here, on the forum at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=515115.

As many of you know (thanks for participating), we have undertaken a market study of XDN community and are releasing the preliminary results. Below is the infographics portraying the initial results of the study.

We are still waiting for some responses and sending out new invitations to participate in the survey to community members. To those of you who already responded – Thank YOU! If you received my inquiry, but didn’t have the time to respond yet, please spare 5-10 minutes of your time to reply. If you didn’t receive the inquiry to participate in the survey, but have a Digitalnote stake and want to take part in the survey, please PM me or send me an email (brian.gerald007@gmail.com).

As Xian has outlined in the previous post we launched the XDN Foundation recently. Please contribute to our discussion about the future of XDN Foundation: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1072773.0

it is nice to see a research and xdn discussion activity around here. thank you guys, i hope you will make some kind of report about your research and fundraising. Thank you for your words of support. We are determined to achieve our 50 mm XDN campaign goal. Our primary plans for the funds collected through fundraising activity is to give Digitalnote more marketing outreach and depth through attracting a professional marketing communications agency to spearhead the process. The community will be the primary beneficiary of such activity. Later we will use some of our funds to support socially important projects that resonate with the community.

I want everyone to understand DigitalNote XDN block reward structure for miners:

Miners reward = Base_block_reward + fee

Base block reward = 150 XDN
Fee = average message fee = 1 XDN, so in case of 150 messages in 1 block, miners will have an additional 150 XDN.
DigitalNote cryptography is faster than Bitcoin and able to handle much more transactions per second, than  BTC.

Deposits. already implemented in core, but not PoA. PoA will be based on blockchain deposits, we are hard working on it. When done, DigitalNote will be the first cryptocurrency (not only first CN coin)  ever implemented Proof-of-activity in addition to Proof-of-work.

We will discuss PoA here and in other places.

Thank you.

DigitalNote cryptography is faster than Bitcoin and able to handle much more transactions per second than  BTC.

I had the pertaining question on my mind for a while … ; it is only good that we get some clearer ideas of the practical advantages XDN has .
As far as I know , please correct me if I am wrong , Bitcoin can handle less than 10 transactions per second , in the range of 7-8 , as of now …
I would like to know how XDN performs in this regard by numbers . I know this is an important factor ( xdn-advantage ) or issue ( btc-pitfall) .

Can you give a good estimate or a practical benchmark that further could be verified ?
Is it possible to alter the transactions per second capacity by elaborating a new
protocol technique easily implementable into XDN , in the foreseeable future ?
