I copy the bitaddress HTML to a CD.

RUn that CD on a harddrive that has never touched the web.

Create a "paper" wallet and encrypt it with a lengthy pass.

Print it to a PDF or TIF.

Burn the wallet to a CD.

Move the PDF to multiple USB's and CD's, physically print it.

DESTROY the harddrive I created it on.

You could also just the BTC core and create a wallet.dat file, encrypt it, but I do like the bitaddress.org setup for creating my offline wallets.

Create a few different wallets on that harddrive so I can store the BTC on several different wallets that have different passcodes.
Mainly so when I spend them I don't have to empty my entire stash and create a new wallet.

Sorry if I am coming off as a douche I just want everyone to be as secure as possible.  All for one, one for all.

too much work i guess, isn't just better to use a laptop dedicated to running the client and all the operations with bitcoin?

something like

buy a cheap laptop, do a secure erase(or buy a new ssd and get rid of the one inside it), install only the OS and NOTHING ELSE

run it on a private network and not shared with your other desktop

run the client with your 10k bitcoin coins that are worth millions

no one can put a dent on it, you are safe from online hackers, physical thieves are another story...

How is it ? If I use a brand new Pen Drive than Hard disk ? Buying hard disk is not easy for me for now.

I am thinking to save and keep my bitcoins in a safe and secure place.

It's not the storing offline that is key..

It's the encrypting it offline that is utterly KEY.

The device which you typed in the passphrase should never touch the web ever again.

I am looking to dump my bitcoins to safe place to btc paper wallet. I want to know that is this safe to use paper wallet for storing my btc fund.

Post your valuable suggestions.
I think it is a safe option to have it stored in a paper wallet as it will act as a safe and secure cold storage for you. Be sure to keep it safe locked if you want to stash away some huge number of bitcoins, you could wake up one day after few long years , say 10 to 25 years and realize the price has gone up significantly and cash-out your bitcoins from paper wallet, i have known people who had mined bitcoin in the early days but completely forgot their wallet only to know search their hard drives for wallet to cash-out or use the bitcoins Smiley

I've used plenty of paper wallets without mishap over time and it's still my preferred method.

Nothing is 100% safe but you've taken precautions. Creating it offline is good practice. You should be fine, maybe laminate the paper wallet & hide it somewhere.

I created my paper wallets offline, every now & again I type the public keys into a block explorer to check the balances & 'all ok' so far.

All four pages here and no mention of Armory. Just install Armory in an offline computer (get a 30.00 junky laptop off Ebay) and the first thing it does is print a paper wallet for you. Print it to PDF or print it to paper and be done. Safe as your mother's arms and easy as pie. Actually, it's easier than pie. Have you ever tried to make a pie? You can't do it in two clicks. You just can't.

Now I need to have some pie. See what you guys did? Ugh.  Tongue

Aren't there some alert programs that warn you for every incoming and outcoming transaction to adresses you specifiy? May be much easier than checking it manually.

The type of Anti-virus you use, does not give you 100% protection against all backdoors or Trojan Horse or key loggers. None of them are 100% safe, even if they say so.

Go to a second hand shop, if you do not have a old computer and buy the cheapest computer you can get. Go to bitaddress.org and save the page as a complete webpage on a flash drive on your primary computer. Then transfer these files to the old cheap computer you bought, and open the file offline. <Do not connect that computer to the internet> Create as many paper wallets as you might need from that computer, and physically destroy the harddrive, after you print it.

If you will not go onto the internet with that computer ever again, you could still keep it, to print more for your friends and family. I got a old computer and a printer from a friend, that they wanted to throw away. So I paid nothing for it.

It might sound a bit overkill, but if you are going to store say 10 000 Bitcoins in a paper wallet... you will not be bothered to spend say $20 on a old outdated computer for this purpose.

Keep the paper wallets laminated and a copy in another location in a safe place.
