BTCHowdy y'all, I just created a fresh account with the forum.A short history: I mined coins with a couple ASICs for a while. Basically, I covered my cost of participation, so bitcoin was a fun hobby, maybe a year ago, or more. Now, I am trading on BTC-e.I want to get plugged into a coin community. I'd prefer to avoid getting hood-winked or blindsided, and I'm sure the best way to do that is to exist in community.Whereupon the forums should I make myself active? Are there blog-feeds worth following? And what's all this about payouts on the 'signature campaigns'?Best,-JP

JP,
Welcome to the forum!
There's a lot of good discussion going on and there's a fair amount of fluff conversation going on. Try to involve yourself with the good talk. You mention not wanting to get hoodwinked, you should check out the talk about what Gavin is doing to extend the blockchain size. There's tons of talk about it in the general Bitcoin forum. You'll find good talk in Economy and also Politics and Society. But as with anything, go where your interest takes you.
There's a lot of opportunity to get into some gambling fun, but watch out for ppl trying to scam you out of your hard earned BTC! The marketplace is filled with offers for goods and services for BTC. If you get involved there find a person with positive trust to offer escrow services for you.
The signature campaign is a nice privilege, but know that it is a privilege. If you burn the opportunity posting bullshit posts you'll get that right taken away from you. As a Newbie you might be able to get involved in (although it won't pay much). If you post the equivalent of a post a day (and at least once every two weeks) your activity level will go up one point per day (awarded every two weeks). If you go to the Services Discussion forum you'll find a post on the first 1 or 2 pages about Overview of Bitcoin Signature Campaigns, you can start there.
There's a lot of good stuff here, explore, make posts, enjoy it and try to offer something back.
Good luck to you!
P.S. that yellow font is impossible to read! Very colorful though

Under certain conditions, with the correct lighting setup, that bright yellow is downright excruciating Someone nursing a massive hangover would be blinded on the spot no doubt. Crazy how you don't think about such things until all the necessary ingredients align and then boom! Anyways always nice to see new people on here, welcome and have fun!

The trick to reading this and post like it is highlight all of it. When you highlight it on my system it turns to blue around letters and white letters. This makes it much more readable. No matter what colors are used I can use this and see. But welcome OP to community. In future you might pick one color and go with it entire post . As far as where to make yourself more active I say it depends on what part of Bitcoin you enjoy.

Anyway, welcome to Bitcoin! You're not new to Bitcoin. So I should not touch on Bitcoin things like faucets and etc. You are new to Bitcointalk? I see. Looking for a signature campaign to join? I would suggest you not to join any first. It will be easier to get activity if you are not participating in signature campaign - moderators wont pinpoint you. I would suggest you to join a campaign only after you come Member. And 777Coin is a good signature campaign to consider.

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.
Time to be active on the crypto forums again? Proud to be one of the few Legendary members of the Sparkie Red Dot!
Gonna put this on my resume if I ever join a cryptocurrency/blockchain industry!

Welcome to the forum, and whoah the colored fonts has got to go... it's hard on the eyes. You mentioned you are into trading, so I would suggest checking out 1Broker too. You were one of the lucky few who actually ROI on mining in the time you left. Things has mellowed out, since you have been in the scene.. Bitcoin has become much less volatile. It's as if the gold rush has been completed and the people has staked their claims. {Now everyone is just grinding out the days, hoping for the next big thing} Your experience in mining and trading would be a helpful source for some good constructive posting... Hope you enjoy your stay with us.

Just relax and have a look around. I was lurking here reading stuff for a long time before I even posted anything. Just know that some people tend to be mean to noobs, but just ignore them. Mostly the community here is great. You won't get hoodwinked if you don't let yourself. Don't give anyone any money, whether it is an investment, website, or trade on the forums without making sure the other party is legit. For trades you can simply use an escrow. They are cheap, good, and a great way to not get ripped off.

Lol you can see what little things like font Color will upset users of this forum. Best to lurk read and participate a bit before joining a sig campaign. Any faux pas you might make will only be amplified if you have an ad in your sig. Besides, if you can improve your rank and become known as a valuable member with constructive info to share you stand to make higher earnings from sig. As you can see, I am a sig campaign participant, but I only started this year, I've been on this forum for about 3 years. I read far more threads than I post in. It's like a conversation in a public place. If you just say whatever inane things and speak out of turn, people will ignore you, complain about you, you could get banned. It's your discretion. For quick links to all the news I like to go to my ZeroBlock app. On my iOS. It's a price ticker with charts but also has a News section that aggregates breaking news from here, reddit, all the major mainstream news sources (wSJ, CNN, Forbes, etc) and all the BTC news providers too. It's updated several times a day and is often the first place I hear of any breaking news. It's a free app I recommend it !!
Good luck and welcome to bitcointalk! Do chech out every section too. You never know what you might learn!
