Analysts should also have financial investigatory/forensic accounting experience in non-traditional arenas including drug money laundering, Sharia-compliant banking, terrorist finance, informal and formal money transfer mechanisms (hawala), trade based value transfers, and parallel reconstruction. Knowledge of emerging alternative and mobile payment methods is also desired (Bitcoin, Secondlife, etc).

Is LM looking to find those familiar with Bitcoin to start using it to move money internationally and do things off the radar? Will over organizations seek to do the same? Will the use of Bitcoin by larger organizations give more legitimacy to Bitcoin and result in a more liquid market?

They see bitcoin as possible terrorist money. That's now the corporate view. They're looking for a "counter-terrorism expert".

So it begins...

Lulz incoming

[edit] But seriously, no. Clearly the sentence that mentions Bitcoin is designed to attract individuals who are generally 'creative' with negotiating. Nothing to do with the actual currency itself, let alone LM concocting deals in Bitcoin. Just to make sure we're on the same line here.

Fairly obvious I would think. They are trying to devise a means of tracking terrorism funding and they consider bitcoin to be a possible means of doing so. They want someone who can cover all of what they consider the primary means of funding in order to develop a system to track the funds (in both directions). At least that is how it reads to me.

Thralen

Supporting bitcoin as best I can with 1. mining, 2. buying with bitcoin, 3. selling (or trying to) for bitcoin. If you make a donation to:  1MahzUUEYJrZ4VbPRm2h5itGZKEguGVZK1  I'll get it into circulation.

Seems pretty clear that there is some contract work available (or will be soon) from the government that requires someone who is familiar with alternative payment systems in order to track AML or financing for undesirable groups. I'd like to see if the contract request actually references Bitcoin. It could be a sign that the government is talking more of an interest in monitoring the currency.

This is what I think as well.

Looks like Bitcoins bad rep is causing a reaction.

This is not a corporate view this is a military/gov view.  The corp. for this job is a body shop and they get their needs from the customer.

This is for an analyst, an intelligence analyst.  Exactly the sorts of people that need to keep track of potential new twists in the great game.

The good news is that Bitcoin got first billing and SL got second billing.  Hope it wasn't just alphabetical.

Oh, and you can be sure that the Company will be using bitcoin extensively, just as soon as it is big enough for them to hide in.

Possible? That's how they're planning to attack it. I'd even put BTC on that bet.

It's gonna be fun when they "find" a MtGox account linked to a Dwolla account linked to someone who knows someone affiliated with "Al Queda"...lol.

lol, I wouldn't be suprised

I wouldn't be surprised if SR is run by a US government agency. 10% of every transaction adds up, and soon you own a majority of the BTC in existence (with a goal to keep those coins out of circulation). Easy way to kill it, if you're willing to wait for a slow death.

Nah, governments never do anything useful.  And taking a huge mass of bitcoins out of circulation would be very nice of them as well.  I'd pay extra taxes this year, with a smile on my face, if they were really doing it.
